Any teachers prepared to give me some advice on this?

Dd, aged 9, is very under confident at maths. She's just started middle school in September this year. My eldest dd had the most fantastic teacher at the same state school in Year 8 and I was about the possibility of asking this teacher if she'd be willing to give private paid tuition to my youngest.

The problem I've got is how to approach this. Another teacher is my dd2's maths teacher and I wouldn't like to make either teacher feel uncomfortable. Also, I'm not sure how to even contact this other teacher- I don't feel comfortable about handing a letter in to reach her at her current school. Any advice? Would a teacher feel awkward about this?

Send an email to the school office asking if they know of any tutors in maths?

All schools I worked at frown upon tutoring pupils are at the same school and I can see why. Very likely the pupil will improve in the subject due to extra practice and 1-2-1 attention and that reflects badly on the pupil's teacher i.e my colleague.
If you still want to do it, write a letter and ask your child to take it to the teacher. I have had numerous requests over the years so it seems quite common. But also I live in the SE/London so tutoring is very popular and noone seems to bat an eyelid about it.
