Junior School - Would you be willing to share what helped your dyslexic child in school please?

I hadn't realised there was a middle/junior school section so have been posting in primary, although my daughter is now year 5. She has dyslexia and her ability at reading and writing is a few years below her chronological age, where as I am told she is very bright and her intelligence is ahead of her chronological age.

School is a real struggle, and so is home work.

Please can I ask Junior School section - Would you be willing to share what helped your dyslexic child in school please?

If you are a parent to a child with dyslexia how do you view it? Is it a special educational need, is it disabling their ability or enabling them?

I realise this is an old thread but wondered how you got on with your daughter?

My son is similar in being at least two years behind in numeracy and literacy. We have had additional classroom support since he entered class 2 and for the past two years he has had private tuition reinforcing the basics. We are now looking at getting ed psych in to do a formal assessment and my concern now is high school. The local high school is not the right one for him and tbh the local schools are diabolical. I am starting to investigate independent schools. You are a year further in the process and I am interested in what progress you have made x
