Ooh. This is new.

I have a Ds at Middle School-Year 7.

Octopusinabunchofdaffodils · 11/04/2014 16:39

Hurray.
One of mine finds out next week which middle school they are going to, is anybody else waiting to find out?
Sparklingbrook, we hopefully will be asking if you have any uniform you want to sell, though I have heard that they are changing the PE kit?

Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2014 17:09

YY Octopus new PE kit for September, only available to buy through school according to today's newsletter. I saw it at Parents' Evening and it looks like DS1's High School kit, and very nice and much smarter than the white polo/navy shorts.

Fingers crossed for you. Can't believe DS2 has nearly finished there. Sad

ds1 15 at high school.

MNHQ-prehaps we coild have a topic/page for High School pupils too?

LynetteScavo · 12/04/2014 07:50

So what years are middle school and where are they ( I think my friend in Bedfordshire mentioned they have them)

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2014 07:54

It depends on the area.

Here we have Years 5, 6 and 7 and off to High school in Year 8.

But some are 5, 6, 7, and 8 and High School Year 9.

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2014 07:55

Sorry-not sure exactly where they all are.

anewyear · 12/04/2014 08:07

We're in Herts but the boys go to schools in Bedfordshire.
Both are on the same 'Campus', At the moment, our Middle School is years 5 -8 and the High School they feed into, is years 9 - 12 I think there might be a yr13? at the moment that is
There are plans to turn the middle in to a Primary, Nursery and Pre School, and the High School into a Secondary.

Anew year, as a middle school teacher in Bedfordshire I am quite concerned/ worried about you post as the middle school teachers were all assured that our jobs (in their current state) were safe for the next 5-7 years.

anewyear · 13/04/2014 13:57

Kayakinggirl, can only go by letters etc sent home,
I understand nothing has been confirmed yet.

MirandaWest · 13/04/2014 14:01

We used to live in Mid Beds (now Central Beds I think) and there was debate about 5 years ago in both Bedford Council and Mid Beds about stopping the three tier system and moving to two tier. It seemed the cost implications were what stopped it happening. I have friends there but haven't heard anything about it changing where they are yet.

MirandaWest · 13/04/2014 14:05

Looks like Dunstable and Houghton Regis have some two tier and some three tier.

RonSwansonsLushMoustache · 16/07/2014 12:48

Ooh, I hadn't seen this new topic or this thread before. Is it too late to resurrect it?

Some areas in Bedford Borough are going to two tier from September 2014. Lower schools are becoming primary, upper schools are becoming secondary and middle schools are closing. The middle schools that are closing knew several years ago and started reducing pupilI intake so Kayakkinggirl, if you're still reading, you would have known if it was going to affect you.

FeministStar · 03/08/2014 09:36

That sounds like a big financial investment, quite surprising in this day and age with costs being cut.
