Does this happen during perimenopause / menopause? I’ve just seen a video about it and it’s horrifying. I’m 46 and do not want to believe this happens !!

I found that a very unexpected and welcome side effect of taking collagen ( for my face) was a replumping of my shrivelled fanny!

REALLY?!

Please share what you are taking!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 09/12/2025 23:07

I'm interested in hearing about collagen, too.

ben10isdead · 09/12/2025 23:08

So if I rub some of this magical cream on my flaps then will they grow back?

AmethystDeceiver · 09/12/2025 23:13

Everyone - get vaginal estrogen cream! It's amazing and I wholly credit mumsnet for telling me about it! Ask your GP - it is very easy to get on prescription. Do it tomorrow. It makes you juicy again, I'm sorry I realise how awful that sounds but it's the best way to describe it

@PInkyStarfish you are jeopardising your future health. Not only through osteoporosis but potentially also through cardiovascular disease and dementia. There is some evidence that HRT protects against them.

It’s a choice though. And not everyone can take it.

Testosterone will do that. I could barely have an orgasm but testosterone brought it back.

Exactly right. I felt like the volume of my orgasm had been turned down really low and occasionally it wouldn’t happen at all. Testosterone has fixed that problem.

I think I'm going to go full bush to hide that then 🤔

Pubes go very thin too, so you might not be able to grow a full bush..

I know I'm here wondering if my flaps will shrink? I'd rather they were a bit smaller tbh 😂

Me to. I never knew what they looked like pre kids but you’d think my babies must have pulling them down during birth 🥴

This is the most depressing thread ever.

And yet also weirdly wholesome (and ridiculously humorous in parts).

I'm going to keep a much closer eye on what's happening down there from now on (mid 40s).

Thank you for the heads up ladies.

RollyPollyBatFace · 09/12/2025 23:29

@HellsBells13 you’ll be bothered when they start to fuse , which is the next stage. Honestly, don’t mess about here. You have symptoms of atrophy and it’s not pleasant if you leave it

Brenda34 · 09/12/2025 23:30

Signing in for the collagen advice please and adding my voice to the testosterone recommendation. It's great.

Fuse? Fuse!!! Fucking hell.😬

What collagen are you taking?

I've sort of had them in my dreams where I wake up having them. Started in my 40s.They make me feel sick! I don't think I'd choose to have one whilst awake!

I do like sex though 😁

When I was younger I was having mild ones without really realising. It felt nice but I wasn't leaning into it enough to make it great.

Once I learned I made damn sure to make it count!

I wonder if you are similar?

Helpmechooseausername · 09/12/2025 23:33

Can I ask those of you with no sex drive : is it that you have no desire for sex or no urge for an orgasm? I have no desire to do anything sexual with someone else (which I used to love!) but sometimes still want (/ need) an orgasm! Thanks! Can't ask anyone IRL!!

Merkin.

RollyPollyBatFace · 09/12/2025 23:35

Don’t be fooled into thinking that you’ll just have some shrinkage btw. It will evolve into fusing and nobody wants that shizz in their life.

inwas blissfully ignorant to all this until a year or so ago . Thankfully I twigged early doors what was happening and managed to stop it in its tracks, after messing about thinking I’d bizarrely got thrush for the first time in my life (I just felt sore and a bit itchy and like something wasn’t quite right)

I now just apoly estriol cream maybe 3 or 4 times a week, and Naydaya oil on the other days. (Get this btw - it’s not hormonal but it’s excellent to use alongside the cream)

NooNooHead · 09/12/2025 23:37

Yikes.Labia fusing. The pubes thinning.

Ye Gods....I am literally worried my perimenopause symptoms are going to go on for years (I've had the most horrendous symptoms for 5 years already) and I am terrified of taking any HRT as I am so scared of it exacerbating my movement disorder symptoms 😢

But now, a fusing of the vulva and labia sounds mad and hellish. God, being a wonderful woman is the total pits! 😳😟😅

musicalfrog · 09/12/2025 23:39

May I ask if HRT would mess with my weight putting on) and my skin (spots) in the same way the pill did?

Absolutely no desire for any of it.. used to masturbate a lot. Always had a fairly healthy sex drive. Now, nothing. Not remotely interested. Don’t find men attractive on telly etc etc. In some ways it’s a blessing as I spent my younger years so distracted by sex. Now I have more energy and interest in other things. Dh and I have been married 16 years and thankfully his sex drive has also gone down the pan. I think it’s far more common than people think or talk about.

Can someone explain the fusing thing??? I don’t get it….

It hasn’t for me so far. My side effects on the pill were weight gain, migraines and irrational emotions. I was worried about HRT for that reason but my GP said that just because I had horrible side effects on the pill back in my 20’s, that doesn’t mean I would get them on HRT in my 40’s and so far she has been right.
