Vulva & Clitoris Shrinkage

Does this happen during perimenopause / menopause? I’ve just seen a video about it and it’s horrifying. I’m 46 and do not want to believe this happens !!

Sadly, it is most of us post 60 (earlier for some).

However, the upside is that there is zero yearning for idiot men. Definitely glad to have lost that aspect. Frankly, I wish I'd had that from my teens on.

But the gradual drying out is crap. It isn't just your vag, it's the whole body. Slowly over time, not all at once but progressively. Skin. Hair. Eyes.

The bit that freaked me out the most was the complete disappearance of the labia minora. It took me a long time to wrap my head around that. A part of your body just disappearing!

I’m thinking the same. I was cursed with overly large flaps (I’m a keen cyclist and they get in the way) so I wouldn’t mind if they shrunk a bit!

No, because the outer flaps will lose volume too, and end up either saggy or wrinkly. Probably a weirdly greyish (think old liver) colour too.

My eyes are already drying out. I’m on the verge of not being able to wear contact lenses anymore. Which is another massive inconvenience and thing that makes me furious. I’m 44!

Testosterone has restored sensation - I couldn't feel anything in my nipples anymore in my early 40s, hrt and Testosterone brought the sensation back.

I never had an orgasm before so can't speak to that or the clitoral stuff, but lots of sensation everywhere else.

To the pp who said hers and her sisters labia haven't shrunk... I bet they have!

I have the first but not the second. Am on a decent amount of HRT but still can’t be arsed with sex.

What else can they give me to help this?

Testosterone. Works like a charm. Apply it to your inner arm or shoulder. My GP prescribed it for me.

You may well have to! I just always assumed that your sex drive was a constant. If I'm honest, it never crossed my mind. I had a sex drive and that was that. Then menopause hit, my oestrogen fell off a cliff and with it went my libido. I don't miss sex. It's like that part of my life never even existed. Sex seems faintly ridiculous now. Hormones are powerful things!

I've sort of had them in my dreams where I wake up having them. Started in my 40s.They make me feel sick! I don't think I'd choose to have one whilst awake!

I’m not perimenopausal (yet…) but have had some lovely issues with VA due to extended breastfeeding which also lowers estrogen. On the benefits side, bfing reduces the risks of some cancers due to the reduction.

Mine have reduced but, I am not bothered, less bits to get trapped in your knickers and cause a nipping sensation.😅
