Histamine Intolerance and HRT

Hi everyone, does anyone know much about starting HRT with histamine intolerance? I previously had HIT but it was mostly okay if I avoided very high histamine foods on consecutive days. I am 44 in peri and taking oestrogel and cyclical utrogestan since 4 months ago. When I started on one pump and when I increased to two pumps I had noticeable upticks in histamine issues that more or less settled down. The HRT has calmed down other issues, but for several weeks I've been trying to increase to three pumps as per my GP's instructions but this is pushing the histamine too far, and twice I've had to give up as I felt awful and not tolerating foods that were previously okay. The plan was to get to optimal level of oestrogel, then try introducing some testosterone.

I've read online that progesterone and testosterone can both calm histamine intolerance. Do you think it would be worth a private appointment to see about starting some T immediately, even though I can't get the oestrogel any higher?
Maybe get settled on some T and then try increasing oestrogel much later? Any other advice on HRT and histamine intolerance gratefully received, thank you.

Also if anyone knows of a menopause doctor who would have a good understanding of HRT and HIT I'd love to know, thank you!

Did you get any answers to this? I would love to know as I think I am experiencing histamine issues since starting hrt too. My symptoms are a bit odd though, burning in throat after eating high histamine food and over sensitive bladder so could be down to other things but do seem to calm down when I reduce histamines.

I googled and found this menopause clinic which seems to cover it https://www.menopausespecialists.com/histamine-intolerance-menopause-hrt
but am wondering about trying testosterone via superdrug first. Where have you read that it helps? I have not seen any research on this.

Hi @Itisnearlyspring it's likely I read about testosterone helping via the FB group 'the Irish Menopause', I'm not sure exactly where. I listened back to some webinars they had with Dr Tina Peers so it might well have been there.

Thanks for the info on the clinic! They do seem to be few and far between mentioning histamine intolerance, so that's good to know.

I think my next step will be introducing some T, probably via a clinic who can talk me through where I am with HRT in light of the histamine issue. I definitely can't get my oestrogen any higher at the moment.

At the same time I'm going to talk to a nutritionist I have consulted with in the past about this new histamine issue.
