Anyone else with sweat pouring off them?

I’ve been on HRT two cycles now. Currently at the end of my progesterone, due to start my period any day. I’m honestly sweating so much. I know it’s a bit humid but I never used to be a sweaty person and now my torso is constantly damp.

is this hormone related do you think?

I get these sweats and I am on HRT. I'm now sure my patches help at all with them or the brain fog.

What estrogen dose are you on? Have you had a review and discussed it, and considered increasing the dose?

colouringindoors · 02/09/2022 10:34

I'm just starting hrt and praying it helps with these and my permanent feeling hot issue

IrishSee · 02/09/2022 12:29

I've found my tribe, I thought I was going mad recently with the constant sweats which have been the worst part of this peri (even worse than the brain fog/no energy/sore joints/rages). GP won't do HRT for me as I'm not over 50. Like a PP I just get in the sea whenever I can, but I'm working back in London for a month or two, and it's hellish at the moment. Had a massive sweaty meltdown in Piccadilly Circus the other day, so ashamed of myself but it's so uncomfortable and I was beginning to think that I was going mad until I read this thread.

Off to buy red cabbage for dinner just in case.....

If you get driclor, be very careful to use it only as directed. I know from experience that if you treat it like a regular deodorant, you will end up with a very painful, rashly reaction as it over-dries your skin.

👍

@IrishSee What? You can't allow your GP to treat you (or rather not treat you)like this!

Thousands of women under 50 use HRT.

Why have you accepted this? It's completely wrong and you need to challenge it and raise it with the practice if it's a default position from the GPs there.

Turquoisesea · 02/09/2022 12:41

I’m 52 and I’ve started getting a ridiculously red sweaty face. I’ve just come back from abroad and it was hot but my face redness literally took on a life of its own. I was basically beetroot coloured whenever I had to walk anywhere. It’s so so unpleasant. I can feel sweaty in general when it’s hot but my face was literally something else. I genuinely looked like my head was about to explode most of the time! Thoroughly depressing!

TheLoupGarou · 02/09/2022 15:27

I'm 43 and my GP has been very resistant to prescribing HRT as they feel that I am too young, and my periods are still regular. Having said that, I last saw them about a year ago and the symptoms are worse since then so I probably need to go back. It's an exhausting battle just to get a face to face appointment, never mind the rest.

As an aside, I'm so glad to have found others going through this - at least I'm not the only sweaty mess out there!

GelatoQueen · 02/09/2022 22:05

@TheLoupGarou FWIW I had a really bad experience with my female GP last year - she wasn't particularly forthcoming over HRT and kept emphasising the breast cancer risk, was pushing antidepressants a bit. A year later I got so fed up I made another appointment with a different GP, completely different experience. Proper discussion. A planned way forward and options to consider.

TheLoupGarou · 02/09/2022 23:24

Thanks @GelatoQueen - I'll make another appointment next week. The GP I saw last year was a youngish female GP and as soon as she heard I was still having periods she basically dismissed me. I got bloods done (probably to get rid of me!) and when everything came back as within normal range the attitude was basically to suck it up, you aren't dying.

userxx · 03/09/2022 15:52

So I went to the GP because I can't take this ridiculous sweating anymore and it's turns out I've got an over active thyroid, the symptoms are so similar for menopause.

Mary46 · 04/09/2022 12:40

Irishsee that is hard on you. Im seeing the doc this month feel have low energy. Sweats too. 49. Someone replied about Zumenon tabs on here they helped her greatly. It might help someone else.

Ridiculousradish · 05/09/2022 19:25

@JinglingHellsBells thank you for that. I will try to get some help and make an appointment with the Doctor. I just think they'll try to fob me off with antidepressants. There is a female Doctor at my surgery specialising in women's issues, but I haven't had much luck with her previously. I've had a lot of pelvic pain over the years and random bleeds. She was convinced it was due to a tiny polyp on my cervix. Completely dismissed me when I explained what the blood and clots were like. I just never went back.
I'll give it another go. Just a bit worried I'll have a total breakdown in the surgery if they don't listen to me!

RudsyFarmer · 06/09/2022 07:50

Had a really bad day yesterday with the sweating. Really appreciate all these posts with ideas to help.

Oh sympathies RudysFarmer. It's extremely humid where I am this week. I had to move a few boxes around at work and was dripping again 🙄

Feetache · 06/09/2022 08:10

I'm really struggling with this. Multi vitamins seem to help a bit

Feetache · 06/09/2022 08:11

Sage tea too I'm told can help. No idea if fiction

I bloody love Mumsnet. I’ve been feeling excessively sweaty for weeks now and was wondering whether it might be perimenopausal, although it doesn’t fit the description of a hot flush. And here you all are. It’s nice to know I’m not alone 😭

I’ve been on HRT since the start of the year and it’s been amazing - I’d been suffering with awful, increasing anxiety and insomnia for at least 2 years before it occurred to me that it might be hormonal. Taking HRT reversed those symptoms. Perhaps now I need an increased dose. Fortunately my GP is sympathetic and supportive so hopefully if I need a change it can be easily done.

@IrishSee I’m 47 (and with perfectly regular periods to boot). Please don’t let your GP dismiss you because you’re not over 50.
