Anyone else with sweat pouring off them?

I’ve been on HRT two cycles now. Currently at the end of my progesterone, due to start my period any day. I’m honestly sweating so much. I know it’s a bit humid but I never used to be a sweaty person and now my torso is constantly damp.

is this hormone related do you think?

Nobody on this thread should define themselves as old, sweaty and gross! That goes for myself. We are all women who are struggling at this time of our lives. Between the lot of us we have birthed and/or reared kids or not, held down demanding or casual jobs and listened to family and friends' problems and tried to help each other.

Everyday I battle with negative thoughts about whether my early 20's adult children are ok. One of them has bipolar disorder and my son, although he is lovely, cant really talk to me. He's in a different part of the UK and as soon as I get any retirement money I'll go and see him

perimenofertility · 25/08/2022 13:45

Yes, me too, I hate it! Not on hrt but definitely menopausal. I expected to have brief hot flushes but just seem to be hot all of the time instead. It's so embarrassing being at work with sweat running down my face.

LakeIsle48 · 25/08/2022 13:49

I'm usually nice, supportive and kind. Well F that for a game of soldiers. I'm going to be less nice (probably wont). I'm in bed at 13:46. Another great day in my life.

I have got to leave the house this pm. I'm anxious because I could meet someone on my walk and I'll have no idea who they are. God forbid they try to chat to me.

Seriously I'm sorry for moaning so much. I'll just try to hoover the house and give it a clean. I'm not entirely sure that will happen but here goes!!!!!

Forconfessingonly · 25/08/2022 16:16

It's quite a bit cooler here today, so grateful for that.

I've ordered a fan which is arriving today. I can't wait. The room I WFH in gets boiling and so does the bedroom, so I will be carting it around the house once it arrives.

Puppylucky · 25/08/2022 18:18

Yes me! Post menopausal and on HRT and with a big old sweaty head. Putting anti perspirant on my hairline and the back of my neck works a bit but it's horrible

userxx · 25/08/2022 22:01

Yes!!!! It's fucking horrific, I've never been a sweaty person and I can't deal with it. I feel grim constantly.

Does HRT solve this problem?

userxx · 25/08/2022 22:03

@dalmatianmad 100%

Puppylucky · 27/08/2022 15:57

It hasn't done for me @userxxx but I think that's because I'm fat. I'm sure losing weight would help but can't face the struggle 😔

stripeymonster · 27/08/2022 16:08

Just feeling hot all the time not on and off but constantly. I remember in the winter not needing the heating on because I rarely felt cold. At work I'm in a classroom where the teacher is in a different temperature zone too me. Anything which involves moving around lots - my face sweats and I go red.

SparklingLime · 27/08/2022 16:15

@LakeIsle48, when you say “menopause meds” you mean HRT? Have you tried the options eg transdermal, as HRT really should be able to make a big difference to those symptoms.

Here are the options if you are postmeno:

Menopause matters

SparklingLime · 27/08/2022 16:19

all the options

Snowiscold · 27/08/2022 17:08

I can’t take HRT and am really suffering. That menopause matters website doesn’t seem to have any tips for women like me. My GP has told me to keep my weight under check, eat healthily and exercise more -but I barely weigh 8st, I already eat very healthily and I regularly run 5k. I was advised to meditate.

Puppylucky · 27/08/2022 17:11

I've now given up trying to prevent it and am exploring facial anti perspirant. Oh the glamour!

bilbodog · 27/08/2022 17:30

Im 65 now but been over sweating for years - mainly my head and face - my body stays dry. I read recently that it can be a side affect of anti-depressants and ive been on these for years. Tried coming off a few times but get too many problems. I do need to lose some weight but sweated like this years ago when i was thinner as well!

JinglingHellsBells · 27/08/2022 17:30

@Snowiscold You posted that you can't use HRT.

I don't want to pry, but if (for example) you can't take HRT because of breast cancer, or family history, (or recent blood clots) your GP ought to refer you to a menopause consultant for advice. Saying go away and meditate is hardly providing you with decent care!

Sometimes, women are told by GPs they can't have HRT and the GP is misinformed, but presumably you've queried any medical advice?

JinglingHellsBells · 27/08/2022 17:32

@RudsyFarmer Progesterone increases body temp. Women can sweat more at any stage of their lives in the 2nd half of a cycle. One option if you are using gel is to increase the dose for a week or so before the end of each cycle.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 27/08/2022 17:34

Exactly the same for me. I've been told by my GP I can't have HRT as I had migraines for about 18 months after having COVID. She recommended a vitamin supplement.

Crappydoo · 27/08/2022 17:35

OMG yes yes yes me too all of these things. I am suffering so much at the moment because I am permanently sweating buckets, my brain has gone to total shit and I'm scared to leave the house because every time I do, I do something stupid or embarrassing

Lulu1919 · 27/08/2022 17:45

I pour with sweat ...my bra and pants get soaked through ...plus my clothes ..I try to wear baggy cotton dresses .My head sweats, even my hands...makes me feel tired and grubby.
I'm taking HRT

Complete rubbish.

Migraine is not a contraindication to HRT!

Most HRT now is the same hormones exactly as your own.

It's NOT the Pill.

Why do GPs not get up to speed on this?

Go back and challenge them and read the info on the Migraine Trust website.

This is not want I want to hear 🙈. I wasn't to hear that HRT stops the overheating immediately!

Zoeslatesttrope · 27/08/2022 20:40

I've just increased my oestrogel from 4 pumps daily to 6 in the hope of dealing with this.
interesting to read that brain fog and low energy may also be linked.
My heart goes out to all of you suffering

Zoeslatesttrope · 27/08/2022 20:41

Oh and I was told to increase a few months ago to prevent migraines!

Caroffee · 27/08/2022 22:19

Have had hormone imbalance/peri-menopause symptoms since my late 30s, now 44. Take a low dose combined pill to help with symptoms. In recent weeks, any form of exertion has led to visible sweat on my forehead. People comment on it. However, it has been hot and humid. I also had Covid 8 weeks ago and wonder if that is causing the sweating. I am very fatigued and sleep a lot. Considering possible long Covid. Also wondering whether HRT would be better than combined pill as oestrogen dose would be around one-quarter of the strength? However, a pp has said they raised their dose of HRT to tackle sweating issue. Confused.

My body rarely sweats. But my head and face 🤢

I stupidly had a fringe cut in to hide the wrinkles and grey hair round my forehead. It's now a disgusting sweat trap. Don't get a fringe.

Tell me about it! I'm a community carer and morning calls (usually involving humid bathrooms) reduce my fringe and the hair framing my face a terrible mess. I have to turn the car aircon on full blast and blow dry it with a brush. No strength of hairspray can beat it 🙁
