Anyone else with sweat pouring off them?

I’ve been on HRT two cycles now. Currently at the end of my progesterone, due to start my period any day. I’m honestly sweating so much. I know it’s a bit humid but I never used to be a sweaty person and now my torso is constantly damp.

is this hormone related do you think?

You could speak to your GP about a prescription for Venlafaxine. It’s an anti-depressant, but also used for menopause symptoms. (Especially those who can’t take oestrogen.) I am using both oestrogen and venlafaxine for my symptoms and tbh, it’s AMAZING. (Also helps lift the anxiety and sense of doom I was feeling and didn’t know I had.)

TorviShieldMaiden · 29/08/2022 22:47

Interesting. I’m on venlafaxine and have been for 10 yrs for MH. I hate it, it makes me constipated amongst other things- sweating and dry mouth. I’m on a 150mg (have been on as high as 300mg in past) and was hoping to reduce further.

Ridiculousradish · 29/08/2022 22:51

Yep. Am 38 and perimenopausal. It's so shit and making life really fucking hard. I am ridiculously sweaty, a lot of the time. I get in the sea whenever I can.
I haven't been to the Doc yet because I'm worried they'll say I'm too young. My periods are much shorter and less heavy (after a few years of random mid cycle bleeds) and the rage is phenomenal. I'm anxious and can't sleep. I don't feel like myself.

NerdyBird · 29/08/2022 23:04

Modibodi keep advertising a bra that absorbs sweat at me. Not looked into it but sounds like it might be useful. I don't think I am getting hot flushes but do get hot and sweaty with the slightest bit of exercise, even just normal activities like getting ready to go out or a bit of tidying up.
I'm not on any hrt or anything.

TheLoupGarou · 24/08/2022 17:10

I'm not on hrt (yet) although perimenopause symptoms are really ramping up and I am like this too - not really what I'd describe as a hot flush as I dont go red or even feel particularly hot but absolutely drenching sweats. It's grim so no advice, but solidarity from me.

Same ! Literally my torso is soaked 😩

TheMooch · 29/08/2022 23:16

Is there a spray to stop sweat running down your face? I have developed a tomato 🍅 red face. I can't exercise anymore in the day. I have to run when it getting dark or people will be phoning for paramedics.

OhMerde · 29/08/2022 23:31

Supplements aren't for everyone but I had brilliant results taking Sage Complex. Sage is well proven to help regulate the sweats. It took about 3 months to kick in but it was well worth persevering. If you can't take hrt, might be worth looking in to.

Fraaahnces · 30/08/2022 05:06

@TorviShieldMaiden I think the dosage for menopause symptoms is actually much lower than for other forms of depression/anxiety. It works best as an adjunct to HRT than alone, but it certainly helps those who can’t take oestrogen.

Unfortunately, a lot of supplements, and sage is one, are often best avoided too if you can’t have HRT - which makes sense if you think about it.

Campervangirl · 30/08/2022 07:03

Yep, I've bought a hand held rechargeable fan from amazon, 3 speeds, it really helps, as soon a I feel the heat surge start I turn it on, it really does help.
I'm on hrt too

Campervangirl · 30/08/2022 07:04

Btw the worst for me is I sweat and it drips off my hair 🙄

Yes you can get a roll on antiperspirant prescribed by gp - my dd has one and its pretty good.

GelatoQueen · 30/08/2022 16:13

Joining this (horrible) club. for last two months no period but sudden periods of hotness (feel like I am in an oven) and torso /neck drenched in sweat. I don't look red though. Really bad when it happens overnight - I have lurid dreams and wake up drenched. And then can't get back to sleep. And repeat - 3-4 times per night. Almost cried when I finally got sympathetic GP after trying since last summer to get GP to listen and stop offering me anti-depressants.

CarpeVitam · 31/08/2022 18:33

@colouringindoors

Would you please let me know the name of the deodorant? TIA 😊

colouringindoors · 01/09/2022 14:33

Will see if we still have one...

To all the women here, not on HRT, that's what it's for. If there is a medical reason you can't use it, there are other treatments like ADs and other meds.

If you are on HRT and still sweating at night, it usually means your dose is too low.

There is absolutely no need to suffer like this.

AuntieN · 01/09/2022 17:13

I feel all of your pain on this. A friend told me to try eating more cruciferous vegetables, broccoli and red cabbage in particular. I eat a good range of veg, so was a bit sceptical, but was willing to try anything. Sweats stopped in about 3 days, and if I don't eat red cabbage they come back. Don't ask me why or how it works, but it did. For the sake of a bit of cabbage it's worth try it to see if it works! I have one portion (about 80g) per day, regardless of what else I am eating. Good luck all!

Would pickled red cabbage do the trick ? I love the stuff.

AuntieN · 01/09/2022 18:53

@userxx - I don't know, I haven't tried it. I have boiled cabbage. Give the pickled a try and see how it works. Let me know!

colouringindoors · 02/09/2022 00:47

@CarpeVitam It's called Driclor. My dd got it on prescription. Looks like you can buy it online, but I'm not sure if it's the same strength.

Ahh, thank you so much for that - very much appreciated - I will definitely give it a try! 💜

Fraaahnces · 02/09/2022 04:03

If you get driclor, be very careful to use it only as directed. I know from experience that if you treat it like a regular deodorant, you will end up with a very painful, rashly reaction as it over-dries your skin.

@Ridiculousradish There is no need to put up with this shit! Get along to your GP, explain, and ask for HRT.

That's what it's there to help with!

I'm wondering if most of the women on this thread are unable to use HRT, prefer not to, or are on a dose too low.

MondayMoan · 02/09/2022 08:42

I get these sweats and I am on HRT. I'm now sure my patches help at all with them or the brain fog.
