There are so many on here so knowledgeable .....I'm 46, just got first prescription.

So Evorel 50 ...first question is this a low dose?

I have fully read information leaflet, it's quite scary to be honest.

So second question as I have searched internet but are risks immediate or after prolonged use?

Don't over think it, just put the patch on and look forward to the relief of symptoms.

I got told the risks are higher if you are over 50 but there is a risk with everything.

For me, the symptoms were horrific and I was so relieved to find that they had lessoned within the first two weeks of using the patches.

BooseysMom · 04/08/2020 13:39

Just picked up my first prescription of Evorel too. Too scared to read the leaflet! I'm 48 and still have regular periods but had a particularly bad hormonal episode and thought I have to get help. The thing is I don't get symptoms all the time, just when the period is due. I would rather have a coil fitted again but have to wait till Sept or Oct for this

frozendaisy · 04/08/2020 13:52

I'm overthinking everything at the moment hence partly the reason for the patches.

@frozendaisy Please ignore the leaflet. legally that has to be in every type of any HRT even the weakest of weak vaginal estrogen.

The risks of HRT are tiny and there are practically none in the first 5 years including breast cancer . Patches do not increase the risk of blood clots or stroke.

Just slap it on and enjoy life :)

Hi @frozendaisy - snap - I’m 43 and have been prescribed Evorel Sequi today too. I’m strangely elated and bricking it at the same time but looking forward to no more hot flushes and a decent nights sleep!

I was expecting to be told no as I’ve not had a a full year without periods/haven’t had a blood test but the surgery were surprisingly helpful (I think because my mum had an early meno and osteoporosis)

I totally forgot to ask them though, if it works out well, how long I would stay on it for? Do people stay on one thing for 5 years? 10?

TIA

frozendaisy · 07/08/2020 14:47

@AgnesCastors I forgot to ask about duration it was indicated take for 3 months then review.

Which seems short. But l guess need to see if it works first.

Hopefully you ladies may see my post. Just wondered how you are getting on? I’ve started the same patches today & feel a bit apprehensive.

ladygindiva · 19/03/2021 18:22

Hi summer. I've started evorel sequi patches about 11 days ago ( due to slap my 4th patch on tomorrow) and i cannot believe how quickly I'm feeling better. My insomnia hugely improved from about day 5 and my general mood, aches and pains and other niggles have also improved. Get that patch on and see if it does the same for you x

Ginsoakedcatlady · 22/03/2021 20:46

Hi have you started on the conti patches yet fellow gin lady? Just wondering how you’re getting on. I will start mine on Thursday and feeling really nervous. I feel amazing on the oestrogen only ones!

ladygindiva · 22/03/2021 21:37

I think you mean me! I'm about to put my first conti on tomorrow. Had a bit of a funny weekend of headaches and hormonal oddness but until then have felt great. I guess there will be ups and downs. Fingers crossed the progesterone doesn't mess me up.

Ginsoakedcatlady · 23/03/2021 12:25

Yes I did mean you, sorry! Strange you should say that because I’m feeling quite odd today after feeling great for the first week and a half. Just a bit sleepy and emotional. Hopefully it’ll settle. Fingers crossed we’re both ok with the next part! I went stir crazy on the mini pill, have always had the worst pmt ever, and have fibroids. So really quite scared about it all. Let me know how you go!

ladygindiva · 23/03/2021 16:14

Omg are you me? I went crazy on the mini pill, have fibroids that ended up being too small to be the cause of my problems, have always suffered horrific pmt. Mirena and injection made me bleed and cry non stop for MONTHS. And then my peri arrived. I've considered hysterectomy, in fact that's not been ruled out by a consultant I saw, may be on the cards still if the progesterone makes me go insane. Wish me luck with my conti patch later, I'm bracing myself for a rough few days or so. Fwiw I've felt better today, not sure what the last couple of days were.

Ginsoakedcatlady · 23/03/2021 18:08

Great you’ve felt better today! It does seem quite up and down but I guess we have to give it time. I know how you feel though, it’s almost like you expect it to go wrong after so many things have failed to go right in the past. Good luck with the next few days! Please report back, I will too :)

ladygindiva · 23/03/2021 22:10

Well ive put the conti patch on about 10 minutes ago and I've not spontaneously combusted yet 🤣

Ginsoakedcatlady · 24/03/2021 18:46

Still in one piece??

ladygindiva · 24/03/2021 19:02

Yup working will update later!

ladygindiva · 24/03/2021 22:26

Update - I took the conti patch at about 10pm last night and went to sleep soon after. I have no idea if this is because of the patch but I woke up at about 1230 really hot, tinnitus( i get this regularly) in overdrive feeling panicky and quite sick. I felt like that for an hour or so then eventually had a shit night's sleep ( nothing unusual there). But then to my surprise I've actually felt fine all day, in fact quite energised and cheery considering the lack of sleep. So a surprisingly good day. I wonder what tomorrow will bring? How are u feeling, ginpal?

Ginsoakedcatlady · 25/03/2021 19:59

Ooh very similar story here! Mine went on before bed last night and I woke up a couple of hours before my alarm went off feeling a bit jittery, then felt a little odd all morning but not bad odd really. Had some period like pains around midday but that went away quickly and now feeling pretty good! Hope your day was good too? Quite relieved so far I must say!

ladygindiva · 31/03/2021 16:18

Ginsoakedcatlady how are you now? I've had a relatively uneventful week on the conti; am very relieved. Overall feeling pretty good; I've been thinking of you and hoping it's the same for you!

Ginsoakedcatlady · 01/04/2021 10:42

Completely the same! I can definitely feel the difference between the two types of patch but I certainly don’t feel bad on the conti. Also very relieved. Period started last night and has so far been light and only mildly painful (very unusual for me!). And the only warning was a huge zit appearing on my chin the day before, instead of a week of crying at adverts and wanting to kill work colleagues! So happy it’s been the same for you too!

ladygindiva · 01/04/2021 11:28

I haven't had my period yet and had the most terrible nights sleep last night, like back to the old days however I have extremely sore boobs today so I'm hoping my period will arrive very soon and explain the bad night as my insomnia was always worse on brink of period. However my mood is so much better and I'm just dealing with it so much better. Two or three bad nights sleep a month I will cope with, the year before hrt it was practically every night! So a massive improvement! So glad you're doing well too x

ladygindiva · 01/04/2021 11:32

Lol at description of pmt. Best I read was on a meme that said something like " I've just sobbed at an insurance advert, eaten my weight in chocolate and called my hairbrush a c**t, I think my period is due" which sums me up perfectly! However I don't feel like that atm!

Ginsoakedcatlady · 03/04/2021 09:06

Lol! Yeah that about sums it up! How are you doing now? I definitely don’t sleep as well on the conti patches either and have had a couple of episodes of waking up feeling anxious. But it’s no worse than pre-patch insomnia and yeah like you say it’s worth it for the benefits. I’m quite looking forward to getting back to the lovely oestrogen only patches next week though! And, period continues to be very light and minimally painful. No weight gain yet either, fingers crossed that continues!

ladygindiva · 03/04/2021 19:10

I'd say I felt the same as you. The longer the progesterone patch era goes on for the worse it gets. Bad day today, but probably exacerbated by the fact I lost a load of work I'd done for a project on my computer, don't know if it's salvageable. Massive tantrum followed by weeping... No period yet but I am irregular and had a surprise one a couple days into the start of hrt so 3.5 weeks ago. Felt amazingly good yesterday then realised in the evening my patch had pretty much come off , and I hadn't noticed. Not sure if linked. Roll on Tuesdays estrogen fix. Definitely don't like progesterone as much!
