Right after wallowing in misery for the best part of a year I am turning over a new leaf: does anyone want to join me?

I have been miserable for months and I think my HRT is settling down so I am changing my life

I am restarting my self employed sewing business, started applying for jobs, I have had my hair cut & styled, I am starting a health eating plan (not a diet!!) and my exercise HAS to increase!

Does anyone have any goals they want to achieve? Can we be a team?

Katy I’ll give it a go Smile
I want to temper my mood swings, just stopped hrt this week after 18 months, so far it hadn’t been what I hoped for so trying without. Could do with losing some weight, not dieting either, just not reaching for the chocolate Grin
Being kinder to my DP, he’s put up with a lot from me, it’s not been easy.

KatyMac · 14/02/2019 22:28

Glad to have you with me

For me I have had a restricted diet for best part of 20 so it's exciting to try new things.....which leads to over eating!

My temper has been umm significant!!

Yorkie how many types have you tried?

I'm only on my first and while I am fairly certain it's wrong it has enabled me to function again

Morning Katy
Here’s hoping for a good day for us Smile
I’ve still got a migraine hanging around, it started first thing yesterday but I’ll take another tablet to try and shift it. Could be from stopping the hrt.
Mood feels fine, I didn’t eat chocolate yesterday, no snacking, doing pretty well so far
Hope you are too Smile

KatyMac · 15/02/2019 08:15

That does not sound fun

Today I have 3hrs driving (there and back), opticians, acupuncture and fixing my mum's TV then helping DD with her coursework - great fun Hmm

Hope it gets better for you - are you on any supplements?

Sorry, crossed post
Started on elleste duet, that was ok at first, night sweats stopped after two weeks but as time went by my mood swings got worse. I was put on femoston 1mg which was then swapped to 2mg, six weeks in to that, I ended up sat in the surgery crying, my mood and temper were off the scale Blush
Was put straight back on 1mg and told to go back if my mood didn’t improve. It did but was still bad for three or four days plus I would bleed too early on the progesterone pills. From advice I’ve received here, and doing some reading, tablets aren’t the best for women with migraines and I might not absorb the tablets as I should. I’m giving it a go with out and seeing how I go on. If my symptoms get too much then I’ll go back to the doctor and insist on gel or patch form

YorkieTheRabbit · 15/02/2019 08:28

I just take a multi vitamin and a vitamin d with calcium. I tried menopace before hit, took it for a year but made no difference
We’ve got curtains and carpets being measured this morning and a pile of sample books to go through, so that will be nice.
Reminds me, I need to get my eyes tested, I wear reading glasses but I’m struggling with small print, oh rhe joys of getting older Grin
Safe journey today Smile

KatyMac · 15/02/2019 18:26

Hope you enjoyed choosing

I'm done up here in Norfolk and waiting for the traffic to die down before driving home.

I take large amounts of B12 & Vit D and I do think they help generally (if not specifically menopause related) plus iron, zinc, magnesium, Vit K, Potassium, Methyl Folate and more recently CQ10 (I think it's called) - who knows if they help

I'm on patches and they have (very early days) been generally positive

Hope you arrived home safe. Been beautiful today, positively spring like, always lifts the spirits, crocus and snowdrops in full flower, birds singing, lovely Smile
I need to have a good look at vitamins and supplements to see what might help, I’ve tried magnesium in the past to see if they’d help with migraines but didn’t seem to make a difference but there’s no harm in trying again, I’ve still not managed to fully shift this one, another tablet and some sleep and hopefully it will go.
Curtains and carpet chosen and ordered,
Tomorrow I’m planning doing some tidying in the garden, the greenhouse needs a sort and I’ve got seeds to plant or if I’m feeling lazy, I’ll sit and enjoy the sunshine Smile
Happy weekend

Left the house at 8:15 this morning and that's pretty much when I got back this evening - gardening sounds good, I have some to do too

Let's see how the weather is and how I sleep

OP posts:
KatyMac · 16/02/2019 12:13

No gardening; got up sorted out the house, had a bath & washed my hair, cooked brunch and I'm back off to bed - not ideal Sad

Oh so sorry Katy are you tired or ill?
Not started gardening yet.
Feeling pretty good today, migraine has gone, thankfully
Just pegged washing out, should be dry in no time as it’s really windy. Just about to have lunch then off outside after that. Probably greenhouse first due to the wind. Hope you feel better soon

KatyMac · 16/02/2019 13:51

Just tired I think, I have a 'not headaches' it doesn't hurt just feels full and wrong

Hope the day goes well for you

Did a top-up shop when I woke up - so I've come back and had a cuppa and a cream doughnut stuff healthy eating to cheer me up

OP posts:
YorkieTheRabbit · 16/02/2019 17:20

Ooh, cream doughnut Grin haven’t had one of those for years
Are you feeling better?
Had a tidy up in the greenhouse, sown two different lots of sweet-pea seeds and some ornamental grass, I know how to live it up Grin
It’s been lovely to be honest Smile

KatyMac · 17/02/2019 12:54

I started an online course today & I am cooking a big lunch....I foresee a nap in my afternoon! Wink

OP posts:
YorkieTheRabbit · 17/02/2019 15:06

Ooh, what course, if you don’t mind me asking? Ignore if it’s too outing.
I’m gardening at the moment, been outside since 1.30
Tidying yet more leaves 🍁 cutting things back and I’ve got some hellebores and primulas to plant. Got two loads of towels dry out too Smile

KatyMac · 17/02/2019 15:53

Pedeatric first Aid - I am returning to childcare as I am struggling to find alternate work - I thought maybe emergency Nannying might work on a sort of ad-hoc basis - who knows?

I honestly thought there would be more of us supporting each other!!

Enjoy your gardening - I'd love to be out there....maybe tomorrow?

The plan is Yoga, 1st Aid then gardening after lunch (if I don't fall asleep)

OP posts:
YorkieTheRabbit · 17/02/2019 16:08

Yes I thought there’d be more interest too, I think it’s a really good idea.
I hope the course goes well, such a long time since I did any studying. I did a short open university course some years ago, sociology, I enjoyed it but didn’t take it any further as my marriage broke down shortly afterward and never got round to start again
I’ve come inside now, not finished by any means, it’s a large garden which is lovely but takes some looking after.
I’m a bit tired now but it’s good exercise Grin didn’t get much sleep last night, we had a curry and I was roasting in bed,
Do you go to a yoga class or do it st home?
I used to do yoga many moons ago and enjoyed it. I’m thinking of having a go again at home, I have the odd bout of vertigo so don’t fancy going to a class would be rather embarrassed if I had to stop to lay down until I felt ok again Blush

KatyMac · 17/02/2019 16:25

i go to a fab class where you can stand, sit or lie as necessary I can never do anything on my knees as my rt knee collapses so I sit or lie for those exercises. I went for the first time in 6 months last Monday and I only did about a third of the class!

I did my degree with ou

We moved for a much smaller garden - which was a great move for us

OP posts:
YorkieTheRabbit · 17/02/2019 16:35

You’re far brighter than me Grin I didn’t do any better than 16+ and CSEs
Sitting in the conservatory enjoying the afternoon sunshine, it’s been a good day Smile

KatyMac · 17/02/2019 17:15

I think it was persistence really I got it at 41

Got to go an be mum taxi in a bit - I'll relax after that

OP posts:
YorkieTheRabbit · 17/02/2019 17:18

I’ve no kids so taxing isn’t required Grin
Enjoy your evening

KatyMac · 17/02/2019 20:03

You too!

Home now in time for Call the Midwife, then bed

OP posts:
KatyMac · 19/02/2019 13:44

Yesterday was a disaster - I went back to bed after Yoga Sad

Today I have done some first aid, some of my daughters coursework (I check it for grammar/spelling/punctuation), cooked an enormous lunch, made bread and banana bread

Now I'm back in bed but at least I achieved - Yoga just exhausted me! & I did not sleep well last night at all Sad
