Normally I have nice, light, regular periods. No cramping, no pain or bloating (I know, I've been incredibly fortunate).

This month I am having the period from hell. Very heavy, feel like I've put on 2 stone in as many days, and absolutely horrific cramps that nothing is shifting.

I've spent hours in a steaming hot bath today, and just want to crawl into bed with a big mug of tea and LittleDog to cuddle.

I'm 44.

Oh I would Scarah we all need to save for our dottage.

Lists, lists and lists of lists - is the only way to function!

witchywitchof2biggerones · 16/10/2011 20:56

crazynanna - STEP AWAY FROM GOOGLE!! Anyone can convince themselves they have the worst disease on the planet via google.

Go to the doctor and tell him/her what you have said here and also mention that you looked into google for what it could be (be prepared for the dr to roll their eyes to the ceiling - mine did when I casually said that)

Hassled · 16/10/2011 20:59

crazynanna - there's some Internet Law that says if you google ANY medical symptom it will tell you that you have cancer. I bet if I googled my iffy toenail I'd find a cancer reference before too long.

Go see your GP so you can stop fretting, but please try to relax about it. I think it's much more likely that your symptoms are down to the menopause - but then I'm not a doctor. Make an appointment tomorrow, count to ten :).

ScarahStratton · 16/10/2011 20:59

Or I may just go the whole hog and get the loo seat to match.

Shakey1500 · 16/10/2011 21:02

Oh all these symptoms sound very familiar :(

witchywitchof2biggerones · 16/10/2011 21:02

I think you should, I hope you'll be getting naice matching toilet and bath mats Wink

crazynannawitchbitch · 16/10/2011 21:03

Yes you're all right....it's probably just the change. I feel well, apart from the periods and whatnot. Effing Google.

oldsilverbullet · 16/10/2011 21:05

... or just go the whole hog of a matching marble toilet

ScarahStratton · 16/10/2011 21:08

Is that on a boat? I feel sick just looking at it.

OP posts:
oldsilverbullet · 16/10/2011 21:12

Plane apparently [hgrin] suppose it saves on the cleaning though [hgrin]

Do any of you know when your DMs went hrough the change and is it around the same age?? My DM had a full histerectomy at 32 and obviously it is not somthing my DGM would ever have talked about - so I have no benchmark age so to speak.

ScarahStratton · 16/10/2011 21:19

I asked mine earlier, she was a lot later, but she thinks I'm 'starting the change' as she so coyly put it.

I'm 49 and have actually gone through the menopause and come out the other side (not had a period for 2 years so I think that's officially classed as having gone through it).

It started with my cycle going a bit haywire when I was about 45. I would go 3 months without a period then have a horrendous one. I didn't get the night sweats straight away but when I was about 47 I had quite a bad year. I went 6 months without a period then had one almighty one that lasted about a month. Really, really awful. But that was pretty much the last period I had.

Looking back, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I took Menolieve (from Boots) all the way through and still take it to this day.

Just stock up on the Post It notes to aid the memory [hgrin]

Glad to see this thread. I have been wondering about this. Not 40 yet, and I feel really young. Actually would be quite upset and not enjoying staring ageing in the face, nor the far too frequent periods.

Bellavita · 16/10/2011 21:33

Born, I still feel young too even though I am 46.

BeaHellZeBubOnSea · 16/10/2011 21:35

I feel young on the inside.

I think the mirror must be lying.

ScarahStratton · 16/10/2011 21:35

I am young.

ScarahStratton · 16/10/2011 21:39

oldsilverbullet · 16/10/2011 21:41

I too, am young [indignant] - in fact, this spare tyre middle age spread I am developing is very young ... it wasn't there a few months ago [hgrin]

crazynannawitchbitch · 16/10/2011 21:45

If I add the numbers of my real age together,I am only 12 [hwink]

Littlefish · 16/10/2011 21:46

I'm 43. Last September, I missed a period for no apparent reason. It happened again 2 months ago. My cycles are getting shorter used to be 31 days, now between 24 - 27 days). I presume that I'm peri-menopausal. Should I be going to see my GP?

oldsilverbullet · 16/10/2011 23:23

Wow crazy you look good for 93!

BornToBeRiled · 17/10/2011 06:23
