Ladycare nicker magnet

Hello ladies, i dont usually post here ( in fact i didnt know this bit existed ) but id just like to say that i was going through a really bad time with mega hot flushes, night sweats, terrible bloating and mood swings.
I read in one of the womans magazines about the ladycare magnet and went straight on to their site and ordered one not really thinking it would do much good but since it was only about 20 quid i thought id give it a try.
My hot flushes which were coming about 10 - 15 times a day for about 5 mins a time stopped almost straight away ( just the odd one but not full blown ) i never had another night sweat Grin and my bloating reduced gradually over a couple of weeks, my mood lifted as well, i wore it for about 9 months and all was well then i went and lost it on holiday and forgot about it when i came home.
A few days later my flushes started again so i hot footed it down to Boots to buy another one and again the flushes stopped Grin
I now have been wearing it for around a year and a half and have no flushes, sweats or bloating.
I dont know how it works ( and i dont care as long as it does )and im not saying it would work on everyone but for me it has been a miracle life saver {grin}

Do you think I joined this forum trawled through endless threads to find this one to "promote" it's benefits lol. Nope. Not me.
I don't even know what it looks like. And after reading the first few posts thought you wore it on your wrist 😂
I am a 45 yr old mother of 3 plus two miscarriages on the verge, though it's "none of your business"
I suffer extreme Ovulation Pain and Period Pain. Though again it's "none of your business".
I stumbled across this thread thinking oo that's something I could try later on maybe when things get moving. Or again maybe not.
At the end of the day. If I want to try and ease my suffering. Then I will try, regardless of who says it's a crock of shite. That was my point. You think I might be a troll or promoter. I'm not! Good day.

PollyPerky · 22/02/2017 14:58

Errrr........okay! :)

scaevola · 22/02/2017 15:07

It's worth a try, as it does seem to trigger the placebo effect in many.

There is no evidence of efficacy other than that.

So some happy users are to be expected. There is lots of peer-reviewed evidence for the placebo effect. There isn't for magnets actually working (because of magnetism, that is, not because of triggering placebo)

So if you can afford it, it's certainly harmless to try and may trigger a beneficial effect.

PurpleMonkey17 · 22/02/2017 15:26

👍🏻

Abraiid2 · 22/02/2017 15:28

I've just recently ordered one. It should be with me in a few days. I will report back, though as I am also trying out red clover any results might not be purely attributable to the magnet.

I am a longstanding MNer, btw. No affiliation to any company.

Abraiid2 · 23/02/2017 14:33

OK, the LadyCare magnet has arrived and I am wearing it 🙂.

I had a reasonable night last night -- took until 1am to drift off but slept until 7.30am, so I am not sure whether the red clover is helping with the night sweats and the hypnosis tape I listened to helped me stay asleep even if I did have them less aggressively. I was a bit sticky when I woke up.

Because I am doing a few things at once to try and ease the sweats I can't be sure, but I will check in again.

PollyPerky · 23/02/2017 16:50

You won't be able to tell if you are also using red clover. Additionally, symptoms vary so much during peri so it's hard to know if anything works except prescribed drugs which have double blind trials.

Abraiid2 · 23/02/2017 20:06

I acknowledged that in my previous two points, Pollu. :)

Abraiid2 · 23/02/2017 20:06

Not in peri any more.

Truckingalong · 14/03/2017 13:55

I said positive things about it 2 years ago and I'm a long standing mumsnetter, so that bursts the conspiracy theorists view that this is simply a sales pitch thread. I still use mine and still swear by it.

Abraiid2 · 17/03/2017 10:17

I've had mine on for about a month now. In conjunction with red clover, I think it is helping. I also take magnesium and Kalms Night just before bed and eat linseed and chickpeas for the oestrogen-like benefits.

I am sleeping better and if I am having night sweats they aren't waking me as often. My moods are fairly stable, despite a bereavement at the same time as the magnet arrived.

remoaniac · 17/03/2017 12:04

What I do find amusing about these magnets is that they sell one for period pains and other symptoms and another one for menopause.

Hmmm. Surely they are identical? A bit like all the Nurofen variants, in fact?

I do have one (bought for period pains) but haven't worn it for years. I don't know if it works, I haven't had period pains very often since I had my son so have never needed to use it.

Abraiid2 · 17/03/2017 12:56

Dunno about the period version. But it is funny, as you say.

PollyPerky · 17/03/2017 13:05

If someone is using herbal products and supplements too there is no way of telling what if anything is working.
During peri, symptoms change daily so it's impossible to say anything works unless science has proved it.

If it DID work, surely the NHS or private consultants would be handing them out? Cheaper and safer than drugs...

So why do you think that is? :)

Abraiid2 · 17/03/2017 16:22

I'm not in perimenopause any more.

It may be impossible to say what is working and what isn't but as far as I am concerned, something is. And without bloating, resumption of heavy periods, mood swings, weight gain, etc, that quite a number of people here report on HRT.

cherylthommo56 · 18/09/2017 18:48

I have been using this device for a month now. For the first two weeks it seemed to have had a good effect on my sleeping patterns. I usually have a hot flush on the hour and was able to sleep for a few hours without interruption. Last night though they were back with a vengeance. I don't know whether it is a placebo or what. I am still wearing the thing.

Twenty4seven · 06/02/2018 22:56

I am having the same problem as cherylthom. I’ve been using the magnet for two weeks now and, whilst my sleep is improved,** I’ve started having hot flushes and period pains. It’s weird - I’m well into menopause (not had a period for three years), my hot flushes pretty much stopped a couple of years ago. The reason I started wearing the magnet was purely to help with sleeping, so I’ll keep wearing it in the hope that the other issues resolve. Fingers crossed...
**I’m still waking up a couple of times a night but I seem to be going back to sleep fairly quickly. This is a huge improvement for me - I could literally wake up an hour or two after going to bed and lie awake for hours, sometimes all night.

PollyPerky · 07/02/2018 08:15

There is no evidence a magnet works. The RCOG has commented on this. If you want to put a magnet in your knickers, buy one for £2 not £20.

Twenty4seven · 07/02/2018 09:03

It cost £49 but I’m pretty desperate...Sad

PollyPerky · 07/02/2018 15:01

You need to consider HRT. It works. Magnets are witch craft! Load of rubbish.

Twenty4seven · 07/02/2018 15:44

I already have a higher risk for breast cancer so my doctor is reluctant to prescribe it. See breast cancer org website. Also I’m not sure if I want to take something made from pregnant horse pee. I am determined to try this magnet for a couple of months. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I’ll let you know if is does or doesn’t help me.

PollyPerky · 07/02/2018 19:03

How is your risk of BC higher if you are willing to say?

Only asking as there is a lot of confusion over this. Interestingly there is no absolute no-no for HRT at all, even in women who have had BC (some oncologists prescribe it if quality of life is bad.)

You have an added risk if your mum or sister had BC at an early age (they say before 40-45.) Nothing else is counted as relevant.

HRT now is not made from horse urine except for about 3 brands (all starting with Pre - Premarin etc.) The rest is made from plants. I've used HRT for 10 yrs and never touched horse pee types. It's old fashioned and hardly used now.

Twenty4seven · 07/02/2018 20:17

My mum and and grandmother both died from breast cancer. Both early 50’s. I don’t have a sister. I know I could override my doctor’s advice but, for the time being, I am choosing not to. As I said earlier, I have not had a period for 3 years and my flushes pretty much stopped a couple of years ago - I don’t remember when I last had one prior to using this magnet. That is the strange thing - I have had quite a few flushes in the last couple of days, plus cramps although my sleep pattern has improved.

Twenty4seven · 07/02/2018 20:39

Just before my periods stopped I tried wellsprings cream (for about six months) but that didn’t help. Got a really spotty face with that!
