Hello ladies, i dont usually post here ( in fact i didnt know this bit existed ) but id just like to say that i was going through a really bad time with mega hot flushes, night sweats, terrible bloating and mood swings.
I read in one of the womans magazines about the ladycare magnet and went straight on to their site and ordered one not really thinking it would do much good but since it was only about 20 quid i thought id give it a try.
My hot flushes which were coming about 10 - 15 times a day for about 5 mins a time stopped almost straight away ( just the odd one but not full blown ) i never had another night sweat Grin and my bloating reduced gradually over a couple of weeks, my mood lifted as well, i wore it for about 9 months and all was well then i went and lost it on holiday and forgot about it when i came home.
A few days later my flushes started again so i hot footed it down to Boots to buy another one and again the flushes stopped Grin
I now have been wearing it for around a year and a half and have no flushes, sweats or bloating.
I dont know how it works ( and i dont care as long as it does )and im not saying it would work on everyone but for me it has been a miracle life saver {grin}

just wanted to say that I have had 45 to 50 5 to 10 minutes sweats for past 6 years night and day,as I have heart arythmia also it has been causing havoc with my health.I originally started to take nutrition fx menopause 3 which helped enormously and cut the sweats down by 70% it took 3 months to take effect, recently the symptoms have started to return a little so I took the plunge and bought the ladycare magnet.Hot sweats stopped immediately and I started to lose weight within a week which was impossible before,at present I am free of the menopause effects and my heart Arythmia is settling down well. Also I was told that the use of laptops on the lap can cause menopause symptoms to increase in some women so now I put the laptop on the table when in use.I Hope this post can help a fellow sufferer the same way as this site has helped me.

Good for you!! And by the way I have also joined Mumsnet because I was so incensed by the way people who were only genuinely trying to help have been treated. It's disgraceful. I have been given one of these today so will give it a test drive. I would have bought it and given in a try anyway as at least it's not full of chemicals. It is weird how people have no problem recommending pharmaceutical drugs when they are the third biggest killer there is after heart disease and cancer (in 'normal' use, not abused). But despite knowing that I would not attack anyone for their apparent ignorance of this - each to their own, I say and live and let live!!

Wow- what a rant! Don't know where you get your facts from but might be a good idea to have another look?
Pharmaceutical drugs the biggest killer after heart disease and cancer? Confused

You were 'given' a magnet- who by?

Well I took the plunge and bought one about month ago. I must say I was a bit skeptical

Well within couple of days no hot sweats!!!! Really I couldn't believe it myself
I don't take it off unless I shower.

I'm another who's been plagued with 'The Sweats'. I'm 43 and all my perimenopause symptoms have been amplified by the recent stress I've been under. I bought myself some supplements, which had little effect. I was still getting about 1 flush every hour. In desperation, I bought this magnet from boots 2 days ago and put it in place straight away. Within 5 or so hours, the flushing had gone. Totally gone. 48 hours later and nothing. Not a single sweat. I can't quite believe it but I'm over the moon about it. Worth a try I'd say to anyone suffering.

hi a friend of mine told me about the lady magnet, i was a little sceptical but thought what have i got to lose after spending £200 on accupuncture which worked a treat whilst I was having it but 2wks later they were back!
I started wearing the magnet and thought it may take a while to work but noticed immediate results, my flushes haven't dissapeared but only get maybe 3 instead of 23 and they are minor flushes.
Thing is about 2 months on and it seems to have stopped working so I thought I would take if off for a week to see if giving it a break would kick start it again when I put it back on. My friend did say you may need to move it around to get the right position although saw no difference.
Anyway, what I found is that my sleeping was horrendous due to my nocternal back pain which I had forgotten about and how they had improved since wearing the maget.
I week not wearing it, its back on and im sleeping great and not having to get up or being woken up with back ache and hey my flushes have improved too, only had 1 yesterday, so ladies dont give up, if it stops working take it off for a week and the npir it back on. Out of curosity, do you ladies wear it at night as I thought may I will take it off at night and wear it during the day

I've also had great success with my Ladycare magnet. I was starting to get hot flushes many times per day from the age of 40, and I was feeling sick with them. I was also having horrible night sweats. Not wanting to take anything hormonal if I could help it I thought I'd give this a go, and the flushes stopped and so did the sweats. Three years later I still use it all the time, and when I forget to put it on I notice the difference.

I don't know if I've just been lucky with it, maybe it only works for some people as is the case for lots of medications and remedies. Also some people might be putting it in the wrong place, it's supposed to sit on a certain part of your stomach - about 4 inches below your belly button.

I don't like the attitude of some people on here who seem to think that if someone says this works for them then they must work for the company! That's just ridiculous. Just because something might not work for you, there's no need to get all arsey with those who do benefit from it. You just sound like conspiracy theorists! Lots of medications and remedies help ease my various ailments; nurofen, camomille tea, lemsip and tiger balm to name just a few.. but I can assure you that I don't work for any of the companies that makes these things. :)

I'm sure you are genuine Ginger. But it's just so odd that the people who post on this thread extolling the virtues of the magnet are completely new to MN (it appears), have never been on the meno forum ever before, and have no user name history on MN. Isn't that a bit odd, in your opinion?
If you've spent your £20 and got success- lovely! But there is not a shred of evidence, and a simple fridge magnet for £2 would do the same .

PollyPerky, no I don't really find it odd. I agree that some people might try to flog things on websites like this. But I've come across sites many a time through searching for new products that I've tried. Sometimes I want to review them or just see if other people share my opinions of them. When I'm really happy with a product I like to tell other people about them, as I find it helpful when other people do this. And you obviously have to join most websites in order to be able to post there.. Is it really such a strange thing to do?

Report
gingercoffee · 30/01/2017 00:17

I know there isn't much scientific evidence that it works, (the company seems to have done its own research with positive results, if I remember rightly - but not sure how scientifically sound that was), but if people benefit from it then then obviously they will be happy.

I've tried using a fridge magnet btw, and some other little magnets I had lying about the house, but they didn't do anything. :)

Report
PollyPerky · 30/01/2017 08:25

The research the company has done is not independent or peer reviewed. I spent a lot of time reading about the man who invented the magnet, and the person who has 'reviewed it' and they have a connection.

I don't see why anyone would join MN and find this forum just to say they'd had success with the magnet.

It's not the same as saying you use Nurofen or lemsip which are proven drugs (ibuprofen, paracetamol) .

Maybe you could tell us how a Ladycare magnet is different from any other magnet??

The only reason it may work is that during peri, hormones rise and fall. The magnet use coincides with a 'good stage' during peri. Or, it gives a placebo effect so the wearer feels more positive and relaxed. Placebos are more powerful than people realise.

gingercoffee · 30/01/2017 09:24

Yes, I said in my post that I wasn't sure how sound the research was, I'm not claiming anything else. And I can only speak for myself, but over the years I have joined lots of sites to review things that I find successful, so that I can help other people who might also find them useful. When I'm happy with something I've bought I just love raving about them! Maybe that makes me sound a bit crazy, I don't know!? I did it with Natal Hypnotherapy cd's, Mooncup, Crocs (when I first 'discovered' them, lol!) and chai latte powder - to name but a few. It makes me happy to write about products that have changed my life, especially as there are so many other people who might benefit from them. Isn't the internet all about information sharing?

How would it even work if I worked for any of these companies? Unless I was the actual owner then coming on a website to rave about their product would be very unlikely to benefit me, especially if the company couldn't identify me as their employer. I just think that people get over-paranoid about this issue, and pick on a load of people who are probably also thinking 'this product is great, I have to tell someone about this'. Sometimes people just want to help. In real life I try to help people as much as I can, don't know why that needs to be surrounded by suspicion when people use the internet to do the same thing.

Anyway, that's why I would 'join MN and find this forum just to say I'd had success with the magnet'. I put the product name in the search engine to find a suitable place to rave, and I end up at sites like this. Simple. :)

I wouldn't know why Ladycare is different from any other magnet. The only difference I'm aware of is that it worked, and the others didn't.

I'd happily accept that it might be a placebo effect. Apart from the fact that several times I've forgotten to wear it and I've had some awful hot flushes, been completely confused about why they've come back again, and then felt around for my magnet and realised I'm not wearing it.

But whatever the reason it works, it does for me and seems to for lots of other people. So it might be worth a try for somebody else who's struggling. Just like acupuncture or other alternative therapies might help someone. They're all just things to try in case they might help you, and nobody has to try them if they don't want to.

Me thinks the lady doth protest too much Grin

For someone with no vested interest, you''re very invested in the thread.

As I said, it's just odd how women with no user history 'find' MN (and other forums) then make the effort to post about the magnet.

It doesn't take much imagination to work out that the company could pay someone to do some PR/ blog, whatever, as if they had used it.
But anyway- good luck with it all Wink

:D I'm just answering your questions, you seem quite invested in this thread as well! I can only repeat what I've already said, I love reviewing and raving about things and that's how I end up here, there and everywhere. I don't know anything about PR, no doubt people do that but some people are just normal people. But I will carry on writing about things that make me happy, (maybe just not so much on here).

£32!

I'm only invested Ginger insomuch as hoping women will hear the other side and not waste their money.

If it worked, it would be recommended by doctors. It doesn't work.

The magnet works for me and lots of others, just like reflexology or homeopathy might work for some people. (Homeopathy doesn't do a thing for me, but I accept that some people find it helpful).

Should we keep quiet about the things that work for us? If we buy a product that's been amazingly helpful should we keep it to ourselves just in case we upset anyone?

I get that you don't want people to waste their money, of course I wouldn't want that either, but it's also useful for people to know about things that might help them so that they can research them and decide for themselves.

That's all I have to say on the matter really.

You can get a big pile of magnets off amazon for under a fiver.

Put one on the inside of your knickers and fix the other to it on the outside. Sorted.

Well I've just joined and this is the first thread I've read from top to bottom. I have to say as a "newbie" that some of you sound rather bitter than this magnet did nothing for you whereas it did for others. It's like everything in life. Nothing works the same for everyone.
Different side effects for birth control for some women for sure for me.
Different side effects coming off birth control etc. Again different for me.

Now it's the time of the menopause some women will be/are that desperate they will try anything to eliminate symptoms that are blighting their lives. And if mine end up that bad I'll probably try it to. No matter how many people say it's a dud. I will need to see for myself. Nuff said.

It's a mistake to compare prescribed drugs that are proven scientifically to work - and have a long list of possible side effects- with a non-scientific product which has never undergone any proper independent trials.

Not sure why you have joined and posted here about this product when it sounds as if you aren't even menopausal.

Why have you?
