I'm moving to this area in the autumn and would like to meet other mums and get to know a bit more about what's around...

Anyone out there?

mummy dreamer - used to live in Danbury before we emigrated to Australia - fabulous village ... dh worked in Maldon - 15 minutes up the A12 - great run to work. If you can choose - go for Danbury although there were some nice houses along the river in Maldon - used to do shopping in Maldon or Chelmsford.

Great mother and toddler group at the Danbury Mission - we used to go Thursday morning. Have heard schools in Danbury are fab. We lived near the Danbury lakes - good for sunday walks and picnics in summer and winter... no picnics but lots of walks in winter.

we used to walk over the hill to the cricketers arms in Danbury for sunday lunch.

Pharmacist in Danbury - one of them is absolutely fab.

we joined the lee house surgery - good hv's.

this is the danbury village website

here

We love being back in Aus and don't intend to return to England BUT we loved living in Danbury.

used to get my hair cut at Salon 92 - great hairdresser and reasonable prices.

Eidsvold - thanks for the info - am still attempting to effect a tricky house move and hoping to be in Danbury for September! Hope life back in Aus is just delightful!

Hello MummyDreamer

hope you have settled into your new home in Danbury ok.

We are moving to Maldon in a couple of weeks and I would be interested to meet sometime with yourself or other Mum's from the area.

Would be delighted to hear from you.

EssexClaire · 18/10/2005 16:59

Hello. I am in Heybridge, Maldon and I have a 2 and a half year old son. I am looking to meet new mums for coffee and chats etc. Anyone else in the same boat?

Somanykiddies · 18/10/2005 18:59

Hello everyone, I have just moved from Maldon over the summer. Places we like to go to were Promenade Park, in the summer of course, Monkey Puzzle (indoor soft play) at Madison Heights, there is also Go Bananas in Colchester. Found the local swimming pool (Blackwater) a bit chilly even in the summer. Layer Marney tower is nice for a wander when the weather is good. Spent a lot of time on Clacton beach in the summer, nice and sandy. Lots of people seemed to have yearly passes for Colchester Zoo! For the mums, jam factory at Tiptree is great for lunch. Those of you living in Heybridge should check out Bangalore Spice for a takeaway (really miss it!) and China Garden in the better of the two chinese takeaways.

EssexClaire · 18/10/2005 20:22

Hi. Where did you live before? Do you like Maldon?

Somanykiddies · 19/10/2005 13:36

Only lived in Maldon for a year then moved with dp and kids to Devon. Maldon was ok but we love where we are now.

MyboysConnorandMark · 20/10/2005 20:05

EssexClaire - lovely to hear from you. Well, Heybridge is just around the corner, so meeting up would be easy. I have two little boys, the older one is slightly younger than yours (2 years, 2 months) and the little one is 4 months.

Somanykiddies - thanks for all the info, shame about the swimming-pool.

EssexClaire · 21/10/2005 15:08

Great. Its was good to hear from you. Sounds like a good idea meeting up. Sam will be 3 in March and I am trying (!) to get him potty trained which is going very slowly and it is really hard!

mummydreamer · 21/10/2005 18:45

Have been off line but finally moved last week! Would love to meet up with some mums in the area!I have a nearly 3 and a 6 month old! Will check the site regularly now!!

Mummydreamer - great to hear from you. Hope the move went OK.

Dior - Colchester is not too far from me either.

Maybe we can organised getting together?

MyboysConnorandMark · 22/10/2005 20:32

Mummydreamer - looks like your moving took a great deal longer than planned, bit like our own really. Did you go for Danbury in the end? Hope you are all settled now. We finally got the keys yesterday, but we won't be moving in for another 10 days (until the plumber has finished). We have tried to start redecorating today, with very limited success. It still amazes me how little one gets done while running after a toddler.

EssexClaire - good luck with the potty training, that must be really hard. People keep asking me whether I have started my little one yet, but he is not ready (and I am in no rush!!).

mummydreamer · 23/10/2005 20:46

We plumped for just outside Danbury and are settling in well thanks! Whilst we are still surrounded by boxes, we have managed to enroll at a pre-school which dd adores and have found Madison Heights (terrible name - good place according to hubby!)

I am up for meeting sometime - perhaps Monkey Puzzle would be a good place!

How is everyone else?

EssexClaire · 24/10/2005 08:27

Mummydreamer - I am glad that your move went OK.

Let's organise getting together with everyone who has replied here. M Heights is a great place for the kids to have fun and play while the Mums sit back have a coffee and chat!

MyboysConnorandMark · 24/10/2005 20:24

Mummydreamer & Essexclaire: Great idea! We'd be able to make it sometime into the 2nd week of November or thereafter (At the moment we are still stuck in temporary accommodation near Southend while trying to make the new place habitable).

EssexClaire · 25/10/2005 08:39

Great idea. Let's wait until you are settled in your new home - hope that is not going to be too much longer!

mummydreamer · 10/11/2005 18:29

Just a catch up to see how everyone is doing...

Myboysconnorandmark - hope the move went well. We ae settling in nicely in spite of a few ups and downs (I'll save that for another time...)

Hope to meet you all at Monkeypuzzle soon!

Mummydreamer & Essexclaire

thanks for bearing with me! Things are starting to take on some form of normality. Shall we try to meet up at Madison Heights next week? I am free anytime except Mon & TUE mornings.
Looking forward to to meeting you!

MaryP0p1 · 22/11/2005 10:54

we moved abroad too and loved living in Maldon. I'll be in Monkey Puzzle 27th December meeting with my friends from England though.

eidsvold · 23/11/2005 05:56

where abouts - just outside of Danbury - we used to live just off Well Lane - just near the country park and the junior school.
