Hi - yes please. Polesden Lacey? Thingummy Landscape Garden (it'll come back to me in a minute) Claremont? Or similar. Me and dd age 6

stitch · 17/05/2005 08:31

Polesden Lacy is lovely. We went there on Sunday. It's a bit pricey, though, if you're not a National Trust member (£5 for the gardens, an extra £3 for the house, and the cafe is quite expensive too). Claremont Gardnes - also very nice. I hope to get my driving licence sometimes soon, I'd love to travel around.

I'll keep the thread on my watch list, in case there's a meet-up somewhere close to public transport.

Firewalker · 17/05/2005 20:08

Hi there - I'm in Purley so not too far from Sutton, keep hearing about how good Polesdon Lacey is but haven't been since I was 10 and don't remember. Have DD who is 13 months - would she be bored?

Cristina7 · 17/05/2005 22:00

Hi Firewalker - hmm, might be difficult enjoying the house for your DD but there's loads of space outside to run around and she might fall asleep by the time you get round to visiting the house. IMO it's one of the nicest NT properties. The staff there are nice and well-informed too. They are generally very well informed within NT but at PL we always found them friendly and knowing their stuff without referring to the written info sheets. There's a quiz for older children, 4 and above.

eemie · 18/05/2005 09:28

We go a lot but to the gardens and grounds, not in the house. Polesden Lacey is in Bookham, Claremont is in Esher. There's also Painshill in Cobham (not NT). All have good cafes as well as plenty of picnic places.

sounds like a lovely thing to do.
i have three kids. ds1 is 8 ds2 will be 4 soon and dd is 2. would they enjoy it?

dinny · 19/05/2005 20:12

Thursday maybe?

stitch · 19/05/2005 20:17

sure, i can do either in the morning, straight from school drop off, till half twelve, as have to drop ds2 at school then, or afterschool, about half threeonwards, with all three of them?

OP posts:
dinny · 19/05/2005 20:22

sounds complicated Maybe the after-school option....? Will get Lockets to come too - how is next Thursday?

stitch · 19/05/2005 20:26

thats my life dinny. as ds2 only does 2.5 hours of nursery a day, everyday, but in the stupid time of the afternoon.
the more the merrier.
afterschool would probly be easiest.

Firewalker · 26/05/2005 16:23

Cristina

Thanks for the info. DD isn't walking yet so she probably would be bored at Polesdon Lacey at the moment. Will have to wait until she's a bit older!!

stitch · 27/05/2005 14:47
