Been in Nantwich for a year and STILL haven't met any other Mums ..

I'm really not a horror and neither are my DS (nearly 3) or DD (18 months) .. well as far as I'm aware! But I'm shocked to realise that we moved to Nantwich a year ago and I still haven't struck up any friendships with other Mum's yet

I work from home 3 days, which only leaves me with 2 days to "socialise" with and I have a sad tendancy to stick too rigidly to routines and naptimes Perhaps that's the problem?

Anyway, even just for a natter at the swings, or the odd cold coffee I'd love to meet up with other mums ...

Have you tried the SureStart Children's Centre? I have a lovely friend in Nantwich and she has been to a few things at the Centre...worth a try? Her DS is 3 too

giddykipper · 01/05/2009 22:07

I'm in Nantwich :-)

giddykipper · 01/05/2009 22:08

Or even

SalopianGirl · 02/05/2009 22:12

I'm in Market Drayton - although my DD is 7 .
But more than happy to meet up at Stapeley Water Gardens at the weekend or school holidays!

giddykipper · 02/05/2009 22:27

Have we scared you off?

feelingguiltyagain · 04/05/2009 22:43

How lovely!! There is life out there Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delay ... good idea for the Surestart centre. Went when it first opened, but unfortunately was the only one

Giddykipper, you're in Nantwich too?! How marvellous! Tell me more I'd love to meet up.

And SalopianGirl, thanks also. Although not too sure how far away Market Drayton is. Very kind offer. Been to Stapeley a few times and is ideal

Hi - I'm in Whitchurch, so not far from either Nantwich or Market Drayton (probably about halfway?). Have dses of 8, 6 and just turned 2, so if you're passing through Whitchurch or having a meetup, let me know!

feelingguiltyagain · 04/05/2009 22:56

ah yes, thanks Oddhair. Just spotted Whitchurch and Market Drayton on the map - about 20 mins or so from Nantwich? Certainly not a million miles anyway ... I need to get out more!!

Nice to see you're back!

I'm in Stapeley, have a DS who is about to turn 2 next week.

I've never been to the SureStart Centre, not even sure where it is. I used to go to a toddler group at Cronkinsons Farm before I started back to work. I'm off work on Fridays and we do go to the Palms quite often (although I have to say I find the cafe a bit grim). Other than that we just wander the streets of Nantwich and go to Ginger & Pickles for cake and ice cream.

Wouldn't it be odd if we actually knew (or at least recognised) eachother, Nantwich isn't that big!

feelingguiltyagain · 05/05/2009 23:00

hey Giddykipper Palms is my favourite destination when it's cold or raining. (Cafe a bit grim? Surely not! hehe )

Well, have found a class at the Surestart centre this Friday morning, which is ideally timed for my two little ones. Good start! And thanks Treetrunkthighs for suggesting it.

Giddykipper - Not to be toooo forward, but perhaps we could meet up one Friday morning? In Nantwich perhaps, to chase the pigeons What's your DS's routine? I mainly manage to get out in the mornings & lunch. Afternoons are taken up with DS's naps (which would go on till past 5 if we let him!), whilst I amuse my DD.

Have you got any lovely plans for your DS's birthday? My DS turns 3 in June and have decided to have small party at home with bouncy castle (am very excited! Although DH is not that amused!)

SalopianGirl · 05/05/2009 23:15

Yes,we're about a 20 min drive from Stapeley!

giddykipper · 06/05/2009 19:06

What are you going to at SureStart on Friday?

We're not really big on routines any more, he doesn't nap when he's with me, only at nursery. Lunch is about 12 noon, other than that we do as we please.

Not really doing much for his birthday, I might take him to Alton Towers(it's only £8ish for a parent with toddler(s) during the week and there are quite a lot of little rides these days), probably try and see my parents so they can spoil him.

Definitely up for a Friday meet, let me know what you're doing at SureStart and I might come with you.

giddykipper · 08/05/2009 07:21

Well if you're out today I will probably be in Ginger & Pickles at lunchtime, I'm tall with short dark hair, with a little boy called Seth. Think we're going to go to Nantwich pool first thing.

feelingguiltyagain · 08/05/2009 07:29

hello Giddykipper - bad few days, DD ill with temperature of 39 degrees Plus laptap not working ... sigh. Just grabbed DH's laptop before he goes to work!

Unless DD is much better, will be unlikely to get into Nantwich today. I am sooooo appreciative though. If I do make it, I'll be the one saying "Oskar ... Oskar no, Oskar stop, Oskar, Oskar! Oskar!" Am also tall and dark (with rather large bottom )

giddykipper · 08/05/2009 13:52

I tried to CAT you but you don't accept messages.

Well that was an unpleasant bike ride home! Think I'll take the car next time. At least Seth's worn out and sleeping so I can get the pigsty of a house tidy. Lovely to meet you , my first real life MNer! I'm probably away for his birthday next Friday but lets plan to do something the following one (if you're free of course).

giddykipper · 08/05/2009 15:51

I've done a crazy thing haven't I?! I've given you your own phone number back and taken my own.

feelingguiltyagain · 11/05/2009 11:50

hello indeed! Well I'm finally back online again - I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms

Yes, so lovely to meet you too! Albeit, short and sweet Yes, I certainly didn't envy you your ride back home, you poor things.

Yes I also realised what we did with our phone numbers. Still, I think we deserve a pat on the back for actually attempting it in the first place - with the drizzle and several tired and poorly children.

Absolutely am up for the following Friday - the 22nd?

Also, have hopefully set up the CAT facility ...

Hello, I hope you don't mind me jumping in, but I've just had my first baby, and don't know any other mums in Nantwich - would be great to perhaps meet up for a coffee at some point if anyone's intersted?

Sue175 · 16/06/2009 06:42

Hi feeling guilty again - we have just moved to a village near Nantwich and I have exactly the same aged son and daughter! Where have you found to go during the week with them? I have been searching the net for playgroups/classes etc - anything to get us out of the house!!!!

wacey · 06/07/2009 12:43

Two shoes too, I see that no-one has responded to you... have you met anyone. I am fairly new to nantwich and struggled to meet people for a long time. I have 2 children 2yrs (son) & 10 months(daughter). I would be happy to meet for a coffee with you.

mad4it · 08/07/2009 22:53

Hi, Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I currently live in Wimbledon, but have just sold the house and looking at moving to Nantwich (I'm originally from Middlewich). Have been looking for toddler groups etc online and can hardly find anything

Is there much going on? Perhaps one day soon I'll come find you for a coffee too!

moaningminnie2020 · 08/07/2009 23:00

I'm near there too..., with a 2.4 yo DD and 6mo DS. Crewe has about 4 childrens centres and nantwich has one, they have playgroup type sessions, there's rhythm time and baby signing and stuff like that locally.

giddykipper · 11/07/2009 21:31

Ooh, didn't realise there were other people on here now. How exciting.

Do you want a meet up?

mad4it · 14/07/2009 16:48

I would love to meet up with people when we finally move up from London.

We were in Nantwich yesterday and have found a couple of houses that we like (to rent as our sale is going through so quickly!). One of them is on the new estate across from the pool (fav house so far and very convenient), so hoping its still available when we finally exchange \ complete in the next few weeks.

We had a walk around the town centre - its changed quite a bit since I was last there and I can't believe Gregorys is still going!

Thanks for the info on the Children's Centres too. Will have to check those out. Is the Surestart one the same thing? Next to the school on Dog Lane??

Twoshoestoo · 26/07/2009 13:20

Hi all,

Wacey, thanks so much for your message

I would love to meet up - shall we arrange something?
