Steppy1 · 16/06/2005 17:01

Hi Nannyjo...went to Music bugs in Wootton Bassett .it was heaving, far too many children (plus mums!) in the size of room that they hired, think I'll stick to mini musicians ....

Steppy1 · 17/06/2005 22:42

...next instalment of Funky Mamas takes place next Friday, 24th June at Wiltshrie Golf and Country Club in Wootton Bassett, for any Wiltshire mums interested in a mums night out (or to meet up with other mumsnetters - I'm happy to reserve a "mumsnet" table Tickets are £6.50, available from Churchill house Family restaurant in Wootton bassett, or can collect on the door if you cat me beforehand.....future Funky Mama dates are September 16th and November 18th at the Golf Club....October 28th (Halloween party !) in Marlborough....watch out for Funky mamas in newbury and Chippenham in the Autumn.....

jessicasmummy · 17/06/2005 22:45

Hi Mistress Mary....

May well be back down your way again soon - RAF Lyneham!!!

Will let you know!

Steppy1 · 17/06/2005 22:48

Hi JM, I have a group of ladies based at RAF Lyneham that come to the FM event as it's only about 3 miles away from the base - there's about 12 of them so maybe we might meet up sometime in the future !

jessicasmummy · 17/06/2005 22:49

Hi Steppy, that would be good! DH got advised today that he is line for a posting, so not sure when we will be off, but hopefully before august. Now 22 weeks pg and dont fancy moving much later than that!

Steppy1 · 17/06/2005 22:53

NannyJo · 20/06/2005 22:39

steppy1, i tried both groups and i love music bugs loads more, they use loads of different props and put the instruments away for some songs which is good cos DS just wants to chew them otherwise.

I guess it all depends on the teacher and group really.

I wanted to do the night out but only just realised when it was and busy unfortunately but next time yes!!

NannyJo · 20/06/2005 22:40

Hello to all you wiltshire mummies BTW, hope you are all well.

bumpylump · 22/06/2005 11:57

Hiya everyone, am new to MN as a bit of a techno-phobe but am now well and truly hooked (getting good at the one handed typing with bubs under the arm too)
I live in Swindon and like the sound of the Funky Mama's that Steppys talking about, what does the night involve? The only thing funky about me at the moment is the baby sick smell
Enjoy the sunshine!

doraexplorer · 22/06/2005 20:29

Bumpylumpy

I can recommend steppy's funky mama's nights.

Very relaxed, wide age range (gone places that make me feel like an OAP.
Turned up by myself but everyone so friendly and joined a table etc
Been trying to distance learning course so only time i get is evening's to do work etc!
I'm between Faringdon and Swindon so not far!!

MistressMary · 22/06/2005 20:39

I'm way past the going out stage, not that I ever was one for going out in the first place.
Would have to be a day job for me or not really into it.

Know what u mean Dora went to mums n babies today was worried as thought i'd be the oldie of the group but I think more people are doing the holiday/career thing now before the family, so was pleasantly suprised

MM, I may be being a bit ambitious my DS is only 8 wks so night times really dont exist anymore, a bit of Big brother and a glass of wine is a wild night for me. Do any of you know if they do the "Scream" showings at any of our local cinemas where you can bring the baby, I quite fancy watching a film in the daytime.

doraexplorer · 22/06/2005 22:00

Don't know about daytime during week for cinema. Bit of a no go - childminding, studying and 2 children under age of 5.

Can recommend the cinema at Greenbridge on a Saturday am. One pound entry few games for kids and you either pay a pound or get in free can't remember which. Do tend to be kiddie films obviously but perhaps one for when yours is a little older.

Had trouble getting youngest off to sleep sogoing to see what TV on, probably missed Big Brother now have to not fall asleep as eldest school dress (only one she will wear - long story!!) is in washing machine.

Steppy1 · 23/06/2005 19:33

Hi Doraexplorer...didn't know that you came to April one (or was it Marlborough one ?!!!(blush) you should have come up and said hello...though the first one was a bit hectic I must admit - being my first one too i didn't relax until around 9.45 !!!! Bit quiterer tomorrow evening (around 120) so that'll be really nice, I'll get chance to chat with everybody...if the weathers nice maybe even have a glass of pimms on the patio Off to DS new school (he starts in September), fete on Saturday so hopefully won't be too worse for wear after tomorrow night !!!! Apparently the FM info is going to be on GWR FM Radio tomorrow () so let me know if you here it ladies !!!! If you can't make it tomorrow, next one is September 16th, then November 18th......

doraexplorer · 24/06/2005 20:04

Hi steppy1

It was a fantastic night (April at Country Club) i could see you were up to your neck in it! Photocalls with Evening Advertiser etc (good write up!)
Busy time at moment trying to get new mindees for childminding for summer holidays and September start.Oh to be able to get an MPV. Heard my youngest has got place at nursery/pre school in afternoons so hopefully will mean get some time to myself or that will be full with other children.

Glad to hear all is going well and will try and make it for Sept one. I will come and introduce/inflict myself on you!

Steppy1 · 25/06/2005 18:03

Hi Dora

As you wrote this, our first guests had arrived and the first glass of wine for the evening consumed of course !!!! last night's event was another great success, half of the ladies that came were Funky mama "virgins" ...and loved the experience very much !!!!!!! We also raised nearly £450 for Breakthrough Breast cancer which was fab & all going to the local Swindon based Wiltshire Branche so supporting local women) Sounds as if you have your hands full at the minute...would love to meet up at some stage...maybe during the summer hols with children ? Would love to have a dedicated "mumsnet" table at the September Funky mamas event, if any of you ladies are tempted !!! I'll keep you updated....

Steppy1 · 18/07/2005 19:05

Any Swindon (ish !) mums going to the mini musicians fun day at Gorse Hill in July or August ?
