Bi-Lingual Children

I am looking for friends for my two year old daughter that are growing up to be bilingual (German-English)in the Bromley, Kent area.
Would also like to chat to parents of bilingual.

hello veggie,im spanish and my husband is english but im trying to teach the children spanish my son is 5 and understands a bit and my 2 year old daughter speaks spanglish,its hard but i try to perservere as its very important that they learn both languages all my family in spain can speak english and i have to tell them off when they talk to the kids in english but were getting there and when theyre older they can go to private spanish lessons as well,how`s your little girl doing?

My dd says several words in German and since she started nursery, she now says the odd word in English. I browsed this site for quite some time today (it's rather addictive) and found there were previous discussions on the subject. It seems the general opinion is that enabling children to grow up bilingual is a good thing, but very hard work! I find it's a race against time to teach the dd German, as she now is already picking up English at nursery and also everybody around us (in the UK) speaks English and she only sees her German relatives a few times a year.

hi veggie,it is really difficult but dont give up i did with my son because he was 2 and didnt speak either language and my "lovely" mother in law said i was confusing him,i should have never listen to her,(i dont anymore)but with my little girl i speak in spanish all the time and she understands more than she speaks but someone said to me that the spanish is in her head and it might come out one day,like i say dont give up!!
