Absolutely - am gagging for a girls night out.

willow2 · 28/01/2003 10:06

PS: can we time it to coincide with WWW getting her hair done? Then she'll be in London and can come too!

Fionn · 28/01/2003 10:18

ok www when are you getting your hair done?1

CAM · 28/01/2003 11:07

Can I come too? But it will have to be at a weekend for me....

Tinker · 28/01/2003 11:12

Could I, tentatively, suggest you consider 15 February since some will be going to London for Stop The War protest. This may also be a reason why that's not a good day , of course!

Tinker, I cannot remember where I saw it (maybe a John O'Farrell book??) but I recall a lady-up-to-town-for-the-day lying down in Ken High St in support of CND then going off for a sumptuous lunch (and a hairdressing appointment too, WWW...). I think a Stop War, Let's Party combination sounds completely ideal and would surely appeal to lots of Mumsnetters.

Fionn · 28/01/2003 12:26

15 Feb fine for me but remember it's Valentines weekend so we'll have to book early and risk sharing the restaurant with loving couples!

SueW · 28/01/2003 12:27

Can you pleeeease decide on a date before Friday cos if you do I have a 50% off voucher for Midland Mainline and may be able to book a train ticket for £9.50!

prufrock · 28/01/2003 13:03

Yes please

Fionn · 28/01/2003 13:03

Ok - let's get organised! Is 15 Feb alright for everyone? I suppose most Valentines dinners will be on the Friday so we should be able to get a table for 10 or whatever somewhere.

sis · 28/01/2003 13:35

Fionn, I feel a bit cheeky as I am not the one organising but if I ask really nicely:0, please would you consider having it in central London so that north Londoners can get home at a reasonable time? pretty please?

Lil · 28/01/2003 13:56

Would love to come to one, haven't made the last lot, but really hope that we don't have to talk about Stop the War all night!!

WideWebWitch · 28/01/2003 14:53

Well, my roots are looking a bit dodgy it has to be said. But I should be finding some trainee who will do them very cheaply according to my brokeness and the 'any other money saving etc' tips thread rather than going to expensive hairdresser in London.

OTOH there are some things on a girl (Oh, OK a grown woman then) shouldn't compromise on! I would love to see people again and would also love a chance to talk properly to people I didn't manage to talk to last time or haven't met yet. Let's see if I can think of a way of justifying the cost...Hmmm, well last time a trainee did my hair down here I was there all day and she still got it wrong so I ended up driving to London anyway to get it put right so maybe it was a false economy? Also, if it's a weekend when ds goes to his dads' in London I will have to drive half way to London anyway whereas if I'm going to a meet up/hairdressers appt I can get the train all the way to London and ex dh will contribute to the cost as it's saving him some driving. Plus if I get a railcard and book in advance it might even be cheaper than driving and I'll have saved money and wear and tear on my car...There, it's a bargain! Nearly justified but I'll think some more and let you know fionn

thumper · 28/01/2003 15:25

Hey, you're good WWW! Have you ever considered taking extravagance justification up on a professional basis? You could start with me!!

WideWebWitch · 28/01/2003 15:36

Why thank you Thumper - my family would say I've been doing it professionally for years! I can justify most things with the words "False Economy"

tigermoth · 28/01/2003 18:22

Keen to make it, too. Can I second sis's plea about a slightly more central location? And will try my hardest to make Feb 15th, if it means we can enjoy the company of those who have travelled to the stop the war protest.

SofiaAmes · 28/01/2003 21:22

yes yes yes. And the 15th is good for me too!! But definitely book early. There is a really nice Thai that's not too expensive that is in West Acton (near our new house) on the Uxbridge Road near the North Circular..... don't know if that would be better for the North London girls. Otherwise, I'm totally happy to go anywhere that has something resembling a parking space.
www I can recommend a great hairdresser in wembley.

Twink · 28/01/2003 21:34

I'm probably up for it - but this time I'm going to check Thames Trains' maintenance schedules first !

clucks · 28/01/2003 22:54

May I suggest closeness to tube/public transport as well as easy parking, esp if out of towners coming. Personally, I am glued to my car seat, may have to be served through the window..

willow2 · 28/01/2003 23:50

think 15th ok for me too
