calling all mums in norwich?!

Hi everyone! I'm a mum to be with a 19 month girl. Just moved to outside of norwich. Life would be great but I have no friends with little darlings to share giggles with! Tried local groups at old and new house with not much success! All I want is to speak to some mums who don't look down their nose at me just because I don't drive a 4x4 and have little ones enrolled at private school! Or the other thing i encountered is mums who plonk kids in front of tv, feed them wotsits whilst they swear like troopers and discuss going out at weekend and who can they con into having the kids! Just read that back and Isound such a snob but all i want is a cup of coffee and a natter? Too much to ask? And is it just me who has encountered this type of thing?

Lowryn · 04/02/2005 10:41

Hi, I am in Norwich. I have a DD of 3 and a DS of 9mnths, we moved here just before Xmas. I don't have a posh car and will not look down my nose at you! Have a posh house though, but that's just cos we're renting!
I know some good places to go, but where do you live? We're just off Newmarket Road.

louee · 04/02/2005 10:45

hi lowryn how are you?

Fimbo · 04/02/2005 10:49

Lowryn you should come to the mother and toddlers in Hethersett as it is not too far away from you.

Lowryn · 04/02/2005 10:49

Not bad, found out that our lovely house will not be ours for long as the blinking landlords have decided to put it on the market in 4 months
I would like to go to monsters tomorrow, but it all depends on DH "letting me go!" grrrrr

Lowryn · 04/02/2005 10:50

What day is that on Fimbo?

louee · 04/02/2005 10:52

would he prefer you to meet with people you know???

Fimbo · 04/02/2005 10:54

Tuesdays and Fridays 9.30-11.00, in the new village hall on Back Lane. Do you know Hethersett or do you need directions?

Lowryn · 04/02/2005 10:54

Yup, he said the other day that I didn't know if the people I spoke to were fresh out of prison, or the type of person that you wouldn't want your kids to mix with!
I said that he was barking mad, and that these were mums, and then he threw back at me the instance with w&r (wish I had kept that one to myself!)
Sigh.

Lowryn · 04/02/2005 10:55

What ages Fimbo? Fridays would be good if my DD (3) could come too...?

louee · 04/02/2005 10:56

can you drive ?

Fimbo · 04/02/2005 10:58

There are newborns, right up to about 3. It stays open in the holidays so my dd comes too and she is 6!! I am not there today as my ds (14mths) has come down with that sickness bug that is doing the rounds.

Lowryn · 04/02/2005 11:03

Excellent, I think I'll come along next Friday then! I am sure I'll find it with the wonders of multimap.co.uk!

louee · 04/02/2005 11:03

Fimbo · 04/02/2005 11:11

Louee-enjoy yourselves tommorrow.

Lowyrn, head towards Hethersett from Thickthorn services and keep going, take the 2nd road on the right, marked Churchfields (estate of newish houses) follow the road right round until you come to the village hall on the right hand side. Its £1.00 for under 1's and £1.50 for over 1's (not sure if there is a discount if you have 2 children). Let me know on here next week what you are wearing etc and I will look out for you.

Lowryn · 04/02/2005 11:16

Right you are!

pipkin · 04/02/2005 12:58

Hello everyone, may I join in..??!, Mememum - I live in Wymondham, have done now for 8 years (so there are a few people who actually smile at me now!!) I was pregnant with DS when we moved here and didn't know anyone. With the help of my HV, after DS was born I met another mum and we set up a MAMA (Meet a Mum group), it was a real success and lovely to meet lots of other mums. As with these things you can end up with a real mixture of people, but on the whole they were a great bunch and I made a couple of very good friends who I still see. There may well be an existing group in Norwich, or perhaps you'de like to set your own up!

mummy2tommaisy · 05/02/2005 13:06

Lowryn-just to let you know my ds has got the dreaded virus that is doing the rounds. I am not going to Mother and Toddlers this week - I will be there on the 18th and will be the spec wearing one behind the counter doing the teas and coffees.

Lowryn · 07/02/2005 10:35

Poor little man, hope he feels better soon.
