Ozziesmom · 20/06/2008 15:43

Hello, I live in Wetherby and would def be on for a york meet up... esp since I can't make the Roundhay Park picnic, so am feeling a bit left out

has anyone been to the spurriergate centre in York city centre? have heard its v child friendly - my LO is 4mo and a bit of a liability in Bettys etc

NickiSue · 21/06/2008 13:48

I'm in Thirsk, about 20mins from York, - welcome to the area!

Argh! How did I do that???

sallyforth · 21/06/2008 16:38

Ozziesmum - if you want we could meet in Tadcaster - its reputedly got a very nice swimming pool which has recently been done up.
Or if the weather is nice, you could come to Wetherby and your litle boy could feed the ducks and eat ice-cream by the riverside.

Ozziesmom · 24/06/2008 17:28

Thanks Nicki for your enthusiastic welcome! I don't think we are far from Thirsk if you fancy a coffee? Are you anywhere near that creepy crawlies place? (probably way off I know!)
Sally, I took the little one to the cinema in York which I think might be in the area you are talking about? it was brilliant, I sat and watched a grown up film while he played with the other littlies at my feet- fancy giving it a try? You have to join but it doesn't cost anything.
Sorry taking so long to respond but don't have broadband and its a big hassle to connect!

oo the cinema in york sounds good... I had heard about it but never been . a chance to watch something abit more interesting than daytime tv!!

Ozziesmom · 26/06/2008 21:13

Messed up there, didn't realised DS now too old at 1 to attend the cinema- sorry Hope you get to go though I did enjoy it.
Fancy a meet up in York anyway? we could really raise some hell in Bettys with two of them!!!
best days for us are Mons or Fridays as starting back at work next week.
(daytime tv just got even better with BB starting!)

Hiya, good luck re starting back at work! I have to go back in sept and am worrying myself silly (PFB syndrome of course!) luckily have got a place for DS at nursery down the road.

Meet up in York sounds good, DH works in York so can give us a lift into town first thing, and last bus home leaves at 14:12 - so mornings are best for me. Fri slightly better than Mon.

Hey how about next Fri morning - Independence Day!! a positive spin on going back to work perhaps!

Ozziesmom · 28/06/2008 22:10

Am so nervous about going back to work, feels, and is, such a long time to be away, and obvioulsy my whole life has totally changed since then! Anyway shall we say 10am independance day!? I have no idea where is a good place to meet with the little un's. Oscar should be ready for a sleep about then all being well!

The Spurriergate Centre?
have never been there, but have had it recommended to me by other mums!
it's advertised on the York Mumsnet Local page.
I will be the one with a stripey blue-and-white wrap-style baby carrier (looks like a giant's school scarf when not in use!)

Ozziesmom · 30/06/2008 14:22

ok, will find it! i'll be the one with the screaming baby in a quinny zapp- me looking harrassed! Will look out for giants scarf lol! off to Essex for a few days, see you there Friday @ 10

Has your LO had chickenpox? My LO was inadvertently exposed to a case of chickenpox over the w/e, so could potentially be infectious by Friday (they are infectious 2-4 days before the spots). So far he has been ok but the incubation period can be 10-21 days.

Let me know if you'd prefer not to take the risk, and we'll reschedule. Some mums like their LOs to get CP as it's usually milder in small kids than older kids/adults.

If YOU haven't had chickenpox we should prob reschedule, esp if there's any chance you could be prego.

NickiSue · 02/07/2008 06:26

Hi Ozziemum, sorry! - missed your post. Can't make the 4th (bit far for me as I don't drive but ould have got there!) but if you do mt at Creepy Crawlies its very nice - just be warned (I went for the first time the other day) that they get to an outside area (fenched off) which is straight off the play area, where there is concrete, sandpit, a rally track for those fast peddle things. Its new apparently and I was mortified when I couldnt find himin the soft play equipment and he'd buggered off outside alone (only 2 (yesterday)). Just be aware of this! Some smaller and quieter is Twiggys at Thirsk or Treasure island at Boroughbridge (I can reccommend both as days out and neither charge for adults to get in) .

Ozziesmom · 02/07/2008 21:05

No prob re chicken pox if still ok with you, I had it as an adult and it was blumming horrible so wouldn't be too fussed about him having it now.
Nicki how scarey at creepy crawlies! I have been there twice now, once couldn't get in as too busy and the other time it was really good, little 'un enjoyed himself. I don't think boroughbridge is far from here, fancy meeting there?
