Older mum feeling isolated

This is my first post so hope I've picked the right topic. I became a first time mum this year at the age of 46. My friends all work and are either childless or have older children. I have a supportive partner but he works and is often away. I'm feeling a little isolated and although I'm going to a couple of baby groups I'm feeling quite a bit older than the other mums. Does anyone else feel like this? Any advice? Are there any other older mums in the West Midlands who would like to connect?

Have you tried peanut app?

I was 42 when my child arrived and I felt exactly the same. I still be the same tbh though I’m not entirely sure why as the mums I’ve met at school are probably older than average, lots in their 40s - not their 20s as I expected. Don't forget that age does not define friendships so don’t rule yourself out before you’ve had a chance to click with people.
Are you located in a city or somewhere quieter?

I know this is an old post but I recently became a first time mum at the age of 49. I have my partner but feeling a little bit lost. My mum passed away nearly 10 years ago and all my friends children are grown up now. I'm also relocating back to my old neighbourhood and don't know anyone locally anymore. Are there any local mum's groups for older parents? I'm in the Chester area. Thanks!

Hi, hope you find some groups in Chester but there are some groups on Facebook called Mums over 40 with kids under 10 and First time mums over 40 with toddlers. If you wanted to connect to chat by email or WhatsApp let me know as we're in a similar situation!

Hi Curleduplikeadog, thanks very much for replying - for some reason I've only just seen your reply. Thanks for your advice which is useful and good to bear in mind. I've also met other mums in their 40s and it's good to not feel like the only older mum. Am in a big town so there are loads of groups which makes it a bit overwhelming but at least there's a choice if I feel like a group isn't for me.

Thank you! 😊
I'll get in contact with the group on Facebook and hopefully see you there. Our older mum's group might be getting bigger in today's world, so it'll be fab to connect with like minded people.

I'm 34 and feel the same (just that i feel a bit younger than the others!) most of my friends don't have kids yet.

I just signed up to the penut app!
