January '08 Babies - N/NW London meet up...if we can get our act together!!

OK, as promised, I'm being brave and setting up a separate thread for those on the Jan 08 Post natal group who can get to a NW London meet up...(of course if any other MN'etters want to join us, they'd be very welcome )

I think there were a few votes in favour of Crouch End, so how about meeting here? Its very baby/toddler friendly, with a nice menu and a reasonable amount of buggy space!

I remember someone (Katy? TMS? Nicky? sorry, brain has gone kaput ) said Tuesdays and Wednesdays were best, so how about either:

Tuesday 18th March

or

Wednesday 19th March

at 12.00pm?

Parking is reasonably ok around there, otherwise there's lots of buses

OK...the floor is now open for discussion !

Put me down for Wednesday please fluffy. We are away 14-17th so will probably be catching up on washing on the 18th. Would be lovely to put some faces to names

beller · 28/02/2008 16:14

just going to look, will be back x

beller · 28/02/2008 17:11

the wednesday is fine with me too...bit of a way, but ill get there! x

fluffyneedssomesleep · 28/02/2008 18:17

Beller, where are you coming from? If you were travelling with a car seat and on the Northern Line I could pick you up from East Finchley station on my way over there...just a thought

Wed 19 also good for me. (I haven't posted on mumsnet much, but maybe meeting some folks will prompt me to do more often )

toomanyshoes · 29/02/2008 15:12

hello, wednesday fine for me too x

mixedmama · 29/02/2008 16:51

Wednesday fine for me too. As I said will figure out logisitics, btu pretty sure I can get to Crouch Hill from Gospel Oak and I will just walk from there, I am becoming quite a little walker, with my sling and pushchair

fluffyneedssomesleep · 29/02/2008 17:07

Fab (and 'hi' MixedMama...missed you ), I'll give it a few more days and then call to reserve a big table with lots of buggy room

xx

hi, well done fluffy

i'm up for the meet-up in theory, just not sure how i'll get there
i'm a tube person and the nearest station is miles away.
may look into getting a train to crouch hill and walking too.

but in theory, yes i'm there!

mixedmama · 04/03/2008 12:21

Just posting so this is on my recent threads list. Looking forward to it ladies.

katyt1 · 05/03/2008 14:12

just thought, i might drive, then ds will sleep the whole way , will borrow satnav off dh
so could be 7 of us then? any other (near)-londoners who might join us?

beansprout · 05/03/2008 20:16

Can I come too? Ds2 was born on 23rd Jan and ds1 is 3.4.

fluffyneedssomesleep · 06/03/2008 18:21

Course you can beansprout ! Will you be bringing ds1 as well? (Just checking for numbers...!) The cafe does a lovely kids menu and suppies crayons and colouring stuff

Katy - driving might be a good idea - its quite easy to find (cafe is by a bus stop, across the road to an M&S simply food) and there is a reasonable amount of parking around, altho its mostly pay and display, so bring change.

Hurrah...looking forward to it. Now I just have to put it in my diary so I don't forget.......all too likely otherwise at the moment...!

OP posts:
beansprout · 07/03/2008 09:13

Yes, ds1 will be coming too. Oooh, am all excited!

mixedmama · 08/03/2008 14:13

fab how many of us is that now???

katyt1 · 08/03/2008 19:45

is it 8 mums? impressive.

have got the in-laws sorted, just need to explain the plan to them, they will stay at home with ds1 after collecting him from nursery and i will either come from crouch end into central london to see dh or go home, will decide nearer the time.

beansprout, you are brave coming out with 2, not sure i'm up to it yet, well i would be if it was somewhere i knew i suppose, but happy just to bring the easy one this time
what about you mixedmama, are you bringing 2? will make me feel like a wimp!

fluffyneedssomesleep · 09/03/2008 22:22

I'm only bringing one, Katy...so you're not the only wimp

I reserved a table today for 6 adults, 2 toddlers and lots of prams I'm sure they can add a couple more chairs if we need them - we'll have the biggest table there and they can stick another one on the end...there's lots of buggy space

OP posts:
beansprout · 10/03/2008 16:21

Believe me, if I could just bring titch, I would!! I'll be the one in the corner with the 3 yo attempting world domination!!

Ds1 goes to nursery 3 days a week, but not on Wednesdays and I don't have anyone who can mind him. Hey, it's ok, what's the worst that could happen....?

fluffyneedssomesleep · 10/03/2008 18:12

Beansprout, don't worry, it's the most toddler-friendly place I know - they have crayons, a properly nice kids menu, toddler cutlery, cups with straws and lids and (apparently) some new toys for the lo's, although those weren't out when we were there on Sunday. And staff who don't roll their eyes when the kids get a bit rowdy . Basically, the place has 2 rooms - adults sit in the front room and anyone with children gets relegated to the back...the segregated approach really annoyed me the first time I went but now I think its fab as it takes a lot of pressure off being out with the kids when no-one is sitting and tutting as your lo plays with a car under the table or has a blue fit .

OP posts:
beansprout · 10/03/2008 21:06

Wow, sounds fab. Could do with more places like that, save us clogging up the streets!

mixedmama · 12/03/2008 16:20

Yep I am bringing them both, gluton for punishment me thinks.

Have worked out my route now just have to negotiate stairs at Gospel Oak and Crouch Hill altho am contemplating taking the bus. It will be 3 buses but might be less stressful. Looking forward to it.

Is there a list of who is coming fluffy???

fluffyneedssomesleep · 12/03/2008 18:20

List?? Of course not, that would imply thought and organisation on my part ...!

I think 8 or 9 mums have said they might be up for it, but attrition rates are always high for meetups, so my guess is 6 mums (plus 2 toddlers as I think you and Beansprout look pretty up for it ), but no idea who will be there...

I'll tell the cafe its a mumsnet meetup so they should be able to direct everyone to the right table. Oh, and I've got bright red hair so am easy to spot from a mile off ...I'll just have to try to get there on time...

OP posts:
katyt1 · 16/03/2008 21:02

right, so fluffy is the redhead, any other recognisable traits? um, i've got brown hair, i'm short, and carrying too much baby weight - not really notable features

looking forward to meeting up and putting faces to names. got in-laws on the case for ds1

beansprout · 18/03/2008 14:00

I've got washed out auburn hair and will have ds2 in an olive green sling.

gingeme · 18/03/2008 15:34

Hi ladies. Thank goodness I ve found you. Wasnt sure if it was still going ahead.
I might be bringing all my lot and dh if I can convince him that is. If not it'll just be me and ds5. Obviously as you might guess by my mn name I have ginger hair and I have a Winnie Pooh Hauk buggy.
See you tommorrow. x
