I have spoken to the Spa and the buffet they are providing sounds lovely - lots of mini, sandwiches (ham, salmon, tuna, etc), tartlets (goats cheese, bacon, etc), nibbles, etc. and mini desserts of freshly baked cakes and brownies. have just upped this to £250 which the Spa woman thinks is ample.

This leaves me with an extra £30 (may well be extra £60 on the day but want to retain £30 incase the worst happens with Clem's flight - seems fair to refund as air traffic controllers going on strike is totally beyond her control).

So would you prefer £1 (poss £2) back each or shall I go to Waitrose and buy some big fancy cake or similar to add to the Spa? Or a selection of fruits? Chheses? Or anything else you fancy?

We aren't allowed alcohol.

I really don't mind Hula...happy to go with the flow. Or, if we all go for a drink afterwards could go towards the first round? (suppose getting the £1 each back would be this in effect)

what time is it kicking off, is it 6.30 - 9 or 7 to 9.30, I can't remember

Hulababy · 21/02/2008 19:16

I did think about towards first round bit but don't know how many are going out afterwards. It is 7:30-9pm. Arrive earlier to get changed before it starts.

Hula - I thought it was 2.5 hrs, not 1.5?

My preference would be for a selection of fruits to add to the buffet - but I'm happy to go with the majority view!

katz · 21/02/2008 19:31

on their website it 7 - 9.30

Hulababy · 21/02/2008 19:36

Can also do a mix of stuff too - so keep ideas oming.

Roisin - 7 till 9:30 is 2.5 hours!

7 - 9.30 sound better!
You just put 7.30 - 9pm a couple of posts above to keep us on our toes didn't you?

Are we out of the building at 9.30, or out of the spa?

Last train to WM's house is c.10.30 I think, so we won't be able to stay long for much of a drink.

Hulababy · 21/02/2008 19:45

Ooops, sorry

Just seen this, am happy to go with anything re the money.

Also my lovely dh is dropping me off and collecting me...do any of you know somewhere child friendly he could go for the 2.5 hours? It's hardly worth him driving back to Leeds and dd will need feeding etc.

katz · 21/02/2008 22:23

how old is your DC?

Hulababy · 21/02/2008 22:25

Centertainment near Meadowhall might be a good place to head - bowling, cinema, plenty of places to eat - or go to Meadowhall itself, there is a new soft lay area open in the middle to while away some time and then somewhere to eat, or ice skating. Depends on age of your DC.

I'm embarassed to admit I am a complete spa novice - have looked on teh website and it says you just need a swim cossie - is that right?

NB am racking brains for child-friendly places...

Hulababy · 21/02/2008 22:28

Yes, you need to wear swim wear. They provide towels, dressing gown and slippers. There is also shampoo, conditioner (I think), shower gel and body lotion int he changing rooms to use, and hair dryers.

She's just 10 months so doesn't really need to have lots of activities just somewhere with baby changing and that sort of thing.

normabutty · 21/02/2008 22:41

...but am at ice skating!!!

charleymouse · 22/02/2008 00:42

Happy to go with consensus Hula, looking forward to Saturday although not sure if DH is
Normabutty p'raps suggest Meadowhall so DD can do her mothers day shopping.

Hulababy · 22/02/2008 10:43

Meadowhall is warmest place. Plenty of places to sit and eat too.

just another thought...how about any excess going to Mr Martian Bishop's sponsorship, we've paid our money already and £1 back is neither here nor there...?

PandaG · 24/02/2008 00:16

thanks so much Hula, had a fantastic time.

lovely to meet some new people and catch up with others.

when is the next one?

katz · 24/02/2008 09:41
