Finchley mums? Need some advice and information please!

There is a strong chance I will be moving to Finchley in September. Can someone give me the low down on what it is like?

Are there a good selection of local playgroups, sports centres/facilities and libraries?

What is the shopping area like?
And are neighbourhoods generally very community spirited?

What are the transport links like as I don't drive?

Also are there any local websites I could take a look at that would give me more insight into the area?

I grew p in East finchley and the transport links are very good like most of London really. Breat Cross is a great shopping centre, a bus ride, but you can get into central london easily by train too. I didn't find it community spitired when I lived there but things like that can change depending on the road you live on.
