First Aid Course (Baby Resuscitation) - Any one interested in joing us in Finchley/Barnet area ?

I have been in touch with the Royal Life Saving Society UK who run baby resusciation courses. The wonderful thing is they send someone to train you in the comfort of your own home ! I live in Finchley Central, so the course will be held in this area or nearby. We only have to pay the trainers's fee which is £40 for the two hours + £5 each for an information pack. The minimum number of people on the course has to be 4 and the maximum is 20. The more people on the course, the less we would pay as the £40 fee would get divided between us - i.e if there were 4 mums, we would only have to pay £10 each plus £5 for the course material - a total cost of only £15.
Please let me know whether you are interested asap (before Christmas please !) and also whether you would be able to host the course in your home. I would be able to host it for 4 people, but not for more as I live in a 2-bed flat.

I would certainly be interested! also live in a small flat though, so no help on the hosting front.

Katty68 · 22/11/2004 11:36

Hello Ixel - do you know 2 other mothers who may be interested ? I have only been living in Finchley for 6 months so hardly know anyone around here. Let me know. Thanks.

FiMc may possibly want to do it. When were you thinking of? It wouldn't be very practical to organise it for the time she's due to give birth!!

Katty68 · 23/11/2004 20:00

I was hoping in the next couple of weeks. If you let me know when she is due I will make sure it won't happen that day. Having said that, my DS was born 17 days early...so will try my best not to have it near her due date and I hope that the course doesn't bring on early labour for her
I can host for up to 5 people maximum. We have a relatively good size living room. I should have said the course isn't for mums only. It is for anyone who looks after a baby on a regular basis, i.e. husbands, grandparents, babysitters...etc...I would certainly always check that any future babysitters I have do this course because it would put my mind at rest.

Hiya, have texted her and she's definitely up for it (not due for ages...dont worry!), and Signman also showed interest when I mentioned it. I'll send you a CAT with my phone number! I'm assuming it ok to do this with offspring in tow, as there's nowhere I can leave ds!

Ixel · 24/11/2004 19:46

Hey, you've set it up to not be contacted! If you undo this, I can send you my number!!

Katty68 · 25/11/2004 10:14

Ok will do today ! Sorry I am new to the website !

Hi Ixel - I have sent you an e-mail via this website with my contact tel. no. and e-mail address and also unblocked so that you are able to send me a message. There is another lady who is interested (for her nanny) so please let me know how many of your friends are able to do the course and I will suggest some dates suitable to everyone, etc. Many thanks.

I read this post as I did a similar course this year and I had a thought that might help you. You can hire church halls quite cheaply during the day and for an extra 50p each or something you would have the space you need.

Good luck and enjoy the course.

Katty68 · 27/11/2004 07:14

Thanks alot for the tip KBear. I will make enquiries !

Hi Katty68... I spoke to Signman and he's very happy to host! So we'll just wait for some dates from you.

Katty68 · 27/11/2004 16:17

Hello again Ixel - many thanks. Is your friend able to host for 5 adults: you 3 + lisalisa's nanny + me ? : )

I suggest the following dates:

Thursday, 2 December (12 - 2 pm)
Monday, 6 December (12 - 2 pm)
Monday, 20 December (12 - 2 pm)

The latter may be too close to Xmas for you ?

Any way I hope you can do one of these dates. I will have to get in touch with the lady running the course and confirm date and time once you have decided. I look forward to hearing from you. PS - I can contribute some choc. biscuits and fruit juice as it's lunch time

The first option is a bit dodgy for me as am waiting to hear if I have to go to the isle of wight with my Dad one day this week! Will ask about the other two, as they're both ok with me. Dh is on hols on 6th, so that could work out well as he could have ds and maybe even FiMc's dd depending how brave he's feeling!

Ixel · 29/11/2004 13:25

Hi Katty68... it looks like 20th is best for us, if thats ok with you. It'll be with babies in tow, as dh is back to work then, so no chance of him babysitting! Let me know if this date is ok with you.

katty68 · 30/11/2004 13:02

Good news ! We are all set for Monday, 20th Dec 12 - 2 pm. I just got confirmation from the course teacher.

By the way Sally, our teacher, said its not a problem if the children want to stay in the room and watch so that you can keep an eye on them !

I asked her how she would like to be paid. She said cash would be best as cheques would require verification. So we all need to give her £15.00 each in cash (£40.00 for course and £5.00 for course materials which will be handed out on the day).

Could you please e-mail your friends address to me (send it to my hotmail address for privacy)so I can give it to Sally ?

Am sending a CAT now!
Err.. isnt it 13.00 each, or am I adding up wrong? If there's 5 of us thats 8.00 each plus the fiver?

kopoli · 30/11/2004 16:17

sorry, forgot to mention the nanny is unable to do it as she is "nannying" at that time of day So only 4 of us which is £15.00 each.

kopoli · 30/11/2004 16:19

sorry don't get confused with the change of my nickname - I am still Katty ! I just decided to use the same nickname that I use on another similar website.

lisalisa - I am so sorry. I started 2 threads because the course seemed to fit into 2 topics.

Unfortunately I had to go by what the majority wanted and Ixel and her friends were the first to contact me.

There are several orgs. that do it. I picked this one because they come to your home and as my DS is only 5 mo it was more convenient than having to attend the course on site.

This particular org. (The Royal Life Saving Society UK tel: 01789 773994) needs a min. of 4 people (max. 20 people) to do it. If you have 3 friends who could join your nanny, then you could do the course at your house or a friends house.

Please CAT me if interested as I can give you further names and tel. numbers.
