Any mums in the Rochdale area ?? Do you fancy something a bit more relaxed than the noise & chaos of playgroups. Don't know about you but I sometimes come away feeling exhausted !!!

I've been having trouble finding playgroups - which ones have you tried? I've got a 2 year old and am on maternity leave with a 4 month old. I've tried the Castlemere Sure Start but the they tend to have things on at about 1 o'clock which is when my 2 year old still has her nap.

Rhiann - Are you in the Rochdale area? Is castlemere around Tweedale St ? There is a good playgroup at Syke Community base, Fieldhouse Lane on Monday pm's ( can't remember exactly what time ). Fieldhouse Lane is off Whitworth Road heading north out of Rochdale.

I am currently on maternity leave until Feb. I have 2 children, a boy aged 2 years and a girl aged 11 weeks - keen to meet some mums - majority of my friends don't have kids and sometimes I feel like i'm on another planet!! Not ventured to any toddler groups in Rochdale yet but will do soon!
Be nice to hear from other mums in similiar situations.

I live near Rochdale although my kids sre older, 5 and 9

It would be nice to arrange a get together? Are there any other mums in the Rochdale area that would like to meet and bring their children to play together? Know of any good child friendly venues?

Rhiann · 09/11/2004 10:10

Yep, definitely up for a meet-up. Have you been to Touchstones? It has quite a nice museum with things for little ones to do and a cafe. How do you feel about going back to work Mediagirl? I was looking forward to it after my first baby because she was such hard work but I've really enjoyed being at home with both children after my second baby and am dreading returning to work. Castlemere is on Tweedale Street Sharon2133. I'm a bit limited to where I can get to because I still can't drive though I'm learning (with an Automatic because I'm so badly co-ordinated and really need to get driving soon).

Hi Rhiann, Really enjoying being at home with the children. Didn't realise how different it would be having 2 and ofcourse how much harder! If I had a choice I definitely wouldn't go back to work, but have very expensive tastes and a big mortgage!!
Touchstones sounds great, heard of it but never been. When do you go back to work and what do you do?

Rhiann · 09/11/2004 21:45

I'm an English teacher. Going back to work in January but only part-time Tue-Thur so I'll get a nice long weekend. What about you?

mediagirl · 09/11/2004 22:35

I'm going back full time I'm sure I will get back into the swing of things. Where abouts in Rochdale do you live? I live in Norden. Have you thought about childcare?

Rhiann · 13/11/2004 09:49

My new baby will go to the same nursery as my little girl in Rochdale though I'll cry buckets when I leave her for the first time. What will you do with your kids? What is your job? I live fairly centrally which has its advantages (since I can't drive) and disadvantages which you'll know about if you know Rochdale. Know what you mean about the mortgage though we moved up from London a year ago so there's no comparison but we've just blown most of our savings on a new kitchen and are still living without a sink so no running water downstairs. Great fun with kids!

Rhiann, I have sent you my e mail details.
I work in advertising for a radio station - really enjoy it, been there about 6 years.
Hopefully family will be looking after the children. My parents looked after my son but now that there are two handfuls it may be too much for them, however, my mother in law is keen to step in!

Rhiann · 21/11/2004 09:47

Am taking my babies (2 and 4 months) to Touchstones on Thursday at about 10.30 am if I can manage to get them out of the house with socks and shoes and no screaming! Hope any other Rochdale mums can join us. Can you make it Mediagirl?

mediagirl · 23/11/2004 12:54
