And Lee does sound a bit clean living and dull. Oh dear.

I'm afaid I did...

Zebedeedoodah · 27/11/2007 14:30

Lyra, I embraced my inner loser a long time ago.

But at least I'm not 'clean living and dull'

Zebedeedoodah · 27/11/2007 14:31

I've just polished off all my Christmas shopping on Amazon. All I have to do now is wait for payday and hit the button and I'm done. Well, all except for DS and DH anyway.

Berrie · 27/11/2007 14:58

Having said that, most people are getting homemade damson gin, plum chutney, Berrie's arty Cornwall and Autumn photo's as notelets and a mug with DS / DD on it as appropriate! Not exactly thoughtful gifts but tough!

Zebedeedoodah · 27/11/2007 15:03

I gave a LOT of thought to what books I was buying, I'll have you know. And my mum's getting the Boots cream and the freebie gift bag they're handing out at the mo.

Berrie · 27/11/2007 15:09

Oh I should keep the freebie gift bag, she'll never know!

Helloooooo...... Anybody there......

LyraSilvertongue · 28/11/2007 12:23

Hello, I'm here. Havn't seen Binkle all week, or Oggs.

OP posts:
Berrie · 28/11/2007 13:24

I'm here too.
They do have a few days off from time to time don't they.

binkleandflip · 28/11/2007 14:55

Helloooo!!

I've had one of those weekends where you are given a rude awakening that you are not 21 anymore - had a very heavy and ill-advised night out on Saturday and am just coming round from the hangover now (that face should be green..)

How has everyone been?

Zebedeedoodah · 28/11/2007 15:13

A 3 day hangover? Ouch!!! I hope Saturday was worth it.

LyraSilvertongue · 28/11/2007 17:07

A three-day hangover? i had a two-day hangover in the summer and that was atrocious.

binkleandflip · 28/11/2007 18:23

oh it has been horrible!

Didnt get to bed until 5 on sunday morning - like most sensible members of our group we should have gone home after the meal at 12 but OH NO, off we went into town....I was basically marinating in alcohol all Sunday and didnt even start on the hangover until Monday night when the headache kicked in.

It was a good night and it only got messy because my dh and my friends boyfriend seemed determined to get into a 'spend-off' and see who could be most frivolous and extravagant with each round - cue Champagne followed by bailey's shots - not big, clever or pretty!

LyraSilvertongue · 28/11/2007 18:27

My DP does the showing off his cash thing too. Last time it was him and another dad we know both ordering bottle after bottle of champagne. We were so ill the next day.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 28/11/2007 18:28

Have you learned your lesson Binkle? I didn't touch alcohol for weeks after my monster hangover.

OP posts:
binkleandflip · 28/11/2007 18:29

Exactly!!

We got to a point where we couldnt bare to consume any more and told them this and I swear they were pleased about it like "Hey, get us, we're so rich that we buy Champagne - and then dont even drink it !!

Embarrassing. Plus they're far from 'rich' so a nightmarish waste of cash

binkleandflip · 28/11/2007 18:30

I have indeed learnt my lesson.

I was at a function thing on Monday evening and couldnt even make eye contact with the red wine on the table let alone have any

I am saving myself for civilised cocktails a cinq in London now

Berrie · 28/11/2007 18:55

Your social life is dazzeling Binkle I am hoping to learn a thing or two from you when we meet. I am so dull, I have decided not to go to the allotment association meeting

binkleandflip · 28/11/2007 18:57

Lol

binkleandflip · 28/11/2007 19:03

the function we went to on monday was at a local spa - it was a demonstration of various treatments ie botox, fillers, peels etc then a two course meal afterwards (mmm, yummy..) anyway, they pulled out a woman who goes regularly who the 'Dr' said had had 4 chemical peels in the last month, plus fillers injected and this woman is also always at the gym when I go or pass.

Anyway, the 'Dr' asked the woman for her thoughts about the treatments and if she was happy and the woman came out with the classic line

"Well, ladies, you know that as mothers, we always put ourselves last..."

How the heck she could say that with a straight face (considering her dedication to spa treatments and gym appointments) I'll never know.. how the other half live eh?

binkleandflip · 28/11/2007 19:05

and no I neither want or have had botox etc - wouldnt have the guts

Zebedeedoodah · 29/11/2007 09:20

But what did the woman look like after all that work? Like a normal human being or kinda weird and not-quite-human like Geri Halliwell?

When DH makes his first million, I'm heading straight out for the full works. Well, maybe not botox, but the rest of it....bring it on!

LyraSilvertongue · 29/11/2007 09:55

Woohoo! my lovely new boots have arrived at last! oddly enough they were delivered by the man who bought my old car in the summer. Spooky.
