Hi all

I'm new to this and I have a 5 week old daughter and dispite it being early I would really like to get out there socialising.

Not sure if it is too early to go to the Mother & toddler groups.

Anyone fancy a coffee/get together?

Cheers
Beabea

Hi Beabea, welcome to MN! I lived in Croydon for 37 years but have moved now, but there are LOADS of Mumsnetters in the area.

If Soupdragon is around, she runs (is that right, Soupy?) a Parent and Toddler Group near there (West Wickham I think).

Keep 'bumping' this thread and someone will see it.

lydialemon · 21/10/2004 23:48

Information about Soupys group is on this thread near the beginning.

Hello, I'm in Streatham, just up the road from you, but all my friends live around Addiscombe (the bit inbetween Croydon and Beckenham )

SoupDragon · 22/10/2004 08:05

The M&T group is in Shirley. It's still very quiet despite homemade biscuits and a different craft activity each week (not much use to a 5 week old I admit). It's half term next week so we're not there.

bonniej · 22/10/2004 08:23

I used to go to Shirley High School! You've just brought back loads of memories

Twinkie · 22/10/2004 09:32

Live in New Eltham/Sidcup so not so far away - oohhh Soupy can I come to your M&T group when I give up work??

SoupDragon · 22/10/2004 09:39

If we're still running it. We're going to give t til crhistmas but if we don't get thenumbers up, we're stopping. It's silly and both DS2 and the DD2 of my co-host start school next year so we won't be doing it then anyway.

We're beginning to think we must scare people away!

jodee · 22/10/2004 16:50

Lydialemon, I'm a born and bred Addiscombe-gal! . Now in Dorset.

moomina · 22/10/2004 17:10

Hi Beabea

I'm in Croydon )Sanderstead) and would be up for a get together! I keep meaning to go to Soupy's M&T group (and now feel really guilty that it might close ) - I work in the mornings and just keep forgetting! But I am getting bored rigid at home so will come after halfterm!

If anyone fancies an afternoon meet/coffee otherwise, I'd be up for that still.

lydialemon · 22/10/2004 17:16

A meet up would be good. I also have the guilts about not making it to Soupys group (which was really nice when we did make it) Unfortuneatly our school does a M and T group the same time, and the children there will be the ones DD will eventually go to school with, so.....I feel I have to go really.

Beabea · 22/10/2004 23:11

Soupy - Is your M&T group in Spring Park Road? If so was hoping to pop along.

So where would people like to meet and when. Please state your preferred day and location. I am in Shirley and currently have no restrictions on which day of the week.

Look forward to meeting some of you.

I can only do afternoons - end of week (Thurs or Fri) is better. But apart from that am completely at everyone's disposal Would people want to meet in Croydon itself?

Beabea · 23/10/2004 20:34

I would as I really wanted to meet other mums within walking distance to where I live. I already know a few people driving distance away. However I have no objections to traveling somewhere. It was just what I was hoping to gain from putting my original message on. You can never have too many friends [smil]

Looking forward to checking out the homemade biscuits. Even if my daughter doesn't get much out of the group first of all I would still like to pop along. A happy mum means a happy baby!!

May have to be in a couple of weeks though. :-(

Hi Just wondered if anyone was still interested in meeting up for a coffee in Shirley/Croydon area.

I can't make anything until the week after next. Let me know if you are interested, what day and where you prefer.

Cheers

SoupDragon - is your toddler group on tomorrow afternoon? I am going to try and get along tomorrow - finally!

SoupDragon · 02/11/2004 21:15

Yes, 1:30pm. Not sure what the biscuits will be but we'll be making fireworks so bring your gunpowder along.

(Actually, we're making them out of kitchen roll inners and tissue paper but that doesn't sound nearly as exciting)

SoupDragon · 02/11/2004 21:17

Oh, and it is indeed in Spring Park Lane... walk up the crunchy gravel path to the church and the little hall is on the right.

Don't ask for SoupDragon or my co-organiser will think you're completely insane

moomina · 02/11/2004 21:24

OK, hopefully see you then! I'll be the one in glasses with a small shouty blond boy...

SoupDragon · 02/11/2004 21:30

Er.. I'll be the tall thin Nicole Kidman lookalike with the perfectly behaved angelic 3yo DS.

Well, I'll have a 3yo son who looks angelic. In reality I'll be the harrassed one trying to make fireworks out of cardboard tubes.

SoupDragon · 03/11/2004 12:48

Chocolate chip shortbread biscuits...

moomina · 03/11/2004 12:52

well, that's decided me - we're on our way

SoupDragon · 03/11/2004 16:42

Sorry I didn't get chance to chat! I never do - Apart from the shyness aspect there's always gluing, stopping DS2 from trashing something and sorting out the organisation side... I used to be able to sit down and gossip whilst someone else did all the running around, not any more. Sigh.

moomina · 03/11/2004 17:17

Maybe I'll collar you for a few minutes next time (when I have got over my 'new girl' nerves!) Ds loved the slide and the cookies were delicious, btw...
