Recently moved to Cambridge area with daughter just started reception and 16mth ds and this morning at school one of the mums invited me back for coffee some time next week. It's made my day! Takes a while to break into groups I know, but when people are as friendly as this (after only a week), it's bound to get easier.

Anyone else Cambridge way or new to the area like us?

Love it here by the way!

Hi, i live in Saffron Walden about 12 miles south of cambridge. We (dh, ds 8 and dd 2) moved here from Surrey last year and although I love the area I would love to meet some more people. Are you in cambridge or in one of the surrounding villages? How is your daughter settling in at school? I know what you mean about it making your day when given an invite by a 'local', as it can feel a bit isolating at first when moving to a new area. Hope things are going well for you.

I'm in a village just near cambridge, are there really only 3 of us?

Oh no, there's quite a lot of people around and about Cambridge, but I'm afraid I'm hopeless for meet-ups 'cos I work full time .

Keep bumping, folks will turn up!

Hi, I am also in Saffron Walden and moved here about 3 years ago - love it here

I'm from Cambridge-bang in the centre-dd 3 1/2-moved in May and took me 4 months to crack into a group so well done you! Hope you're settling in-the xmas lights get turned on this weekend so that should be something fun to see-apparently there are floats driving along! xx

Oh Dh has the kids on his own this weekend whilst I go away with girlfriends.. are they being switched on Saturday or Sunday?

Millarkie · 14/11/2007 18:19

I'm also in Saffron Walden - been here 5 months..but find it hard to meet up because I work almost full-time.

I think the lights are getting switched on on Sunday as I am meant to be doing something important on the Saturday and can't remember what, but know we could still watch the switch on despite it! It's between 4pm and 5pm, but will check which day in the am as I go past the sign on my bike.
Will they have a Santa on the float this early? Is it bad luck? xx
