Will there be another big MN Christmas bash this year ?

I couldn't make it to last year's do, but this year I'm more willing to make a HUGGGGGGGGGGGE effort and drag myself away from my pc !

Have any venues been discussed ? I'd like Brum as it's local to me and also it's central for most UK MN'ers.

I'd like to get dressed up and prefer for DH to be left at home

That's not me being mean, but he thinks MN is full of 'fakes and neurotics' so he wouldn't want to come anyway ! Plus it means I have a built in babysitter !

JuniperDewdrop · 30/09/2004 13:08

Oooo think I'd have to make an effort. Never been to Brum. Agree sans dhs

The Old Sils at j.4 (or5- never can remember) M42 has a function room which they rent out. I can make enquiries if anyone's intersted. Thought of there as its right on the junction and easy access for M6/M40/M42 travellers.

Whimsy · 30/09/2004 19:33

Anyone else got any other suggestions? We'd need to see how many people could make it if we were going to hire somewhere. I would travel by train as I would like a drink We need to get busy organising as a lot of places get filled up with office parties

jampot · 12/10/2004 21:31

The Old Sils rent their function room with bar suitable for up to 500 for £170 plus VAT - anyone interested?

NomDePlume · 12/10/2004 21:33

ROFL Ailsa, only just spotted that

Never heard of this place Jampot, but I would def be up for it. Just wish a few other MNers would join in !

Thanks for that Jampot. It'd need to be either v close to a hotel/b&b or have rooms attached and have decent parking.

Location looks good to me. There must be at least a moathouse or similar nearby (a cheap cab ride?)

Solihull (and its abundance of hotesl) is about 2 miles away. Can maybe see if we can arrange a group discount depending on numbers if loads are interested.

NomDePlume · 12/10/2004 22:21

Yeah, perhaps we should start a new thread with a more positive and press-ganging title ?!

I don't know if this is at all relevant, but we're staying in a Travelodge room soon before flying from Cardiff airport, and again just after Christmas - £25 a room, but only a limited no of rooms available at that price and no refund if you cancel. A room sleeps up to 4 people. Take a look at their website if it might be useful for you (anyone!) Hth

jampot · 12/10/2004 23:06

oooh thanks tiptop - the nearest travelodge to knowle though is A3400 which thinking about it is only one junction down (about 5 mins) away
