Hi All, I've just discovered the joys of mumsnet and was wondering if there are any mum's in or around Burton on Trent? If so, please get in touch as I'd love to have some friendly mum's to talk to - working full time in Nottingham means I've missed out on the toddler groups etc... My DS is 19months. Hope to chat to some of you soon.

Hi Petesmum - I'm a full time working mum too so I know how you feel!!! I live in Rugeley, near Stafford - I have a 4 year old DD.

Petesmum · 18/10/2004 21:34

Hello Ruth01, Great to hear from you and even better that you're not very far away! I'm 30 and work full time in Nottingham. Do you struggle to get a work / life balance too? Somedays I wonder if it really possible to have your cake & eat it (ie have a job you love & a family you love even more) Keep in touch.

PS. Sorry for sounding a bit grumpy, bad day at work!

Petesmum & Ruth01

Hi, I live in Tamworth, have a 4 yr DS and expecting no.2 in Dec.

I was a regular to Burton up until recently, madam butterfly used to live there, and I have been to Rugeley several times especially Dancing Dragons.

I am self employed so I know the joys of working & family life, I went back to work when DS was only 8 weeks, so 4 yrs on I'm still working, I will go back to work after no.2 but not til April 2005. Then I am going to review the situation, I will still work but maybe not what I am doing now.

If you fancy chatting or getting together let me know or even CAT (Contact another Talker) at the top if the page.

RUTH01 · 19/10/2004 08:18

Hi Ronniebaby and Petesmum! Nice to hear that there are some mums near to myself - I was beginning to wonder! .

I also find it a struggle with full time work - esp as I'm a single mum but it would be great to meet up and make some new friends - an area in which I'm lacking!

Ronniebaby · 19/10/2004 21:32

Petes mum - I forgot to say a mumsnetter (Easy) lives in Nottingham, and has a DS, I meet up with her often, so theres another one who would come along

Petesmum · 20/10/2004 12:24

There are a few live threads about arranging a get together in the Derby / Burton / Tamworth areas.

So can I suggest lunch at Frankie & Bennies in Burton on Saturday 20th November - 12.30(ish)?
Good childrens menu, decent adult menu, plenty of free parking etc...

Let me know if you can make it and I'll book a table - easy ??!!

PS. I'll add this message to the other threads as well.

Count me in please.

I have recently moved from Burton, but can use this as an excuse to visit a friend at te same time.

slovenlyhousekeeper · 02/11/2004 16:17

Hi,

I am originally from Burton and am thinking of moving back so i want to know what you can do!

I've seen a house in Moira that I like but I am a bit worried I might be a bit isolated...any comments?!

Petesmum · 03/11/2004 19:03

Not 100% sure where Moira is - sorry! I vaguely recall it's between Burton & Ashby ? If so it'll be fine if you can drive & there's a big new 24hr Tesco on the outskirts of Ashby for those late night trips out for nappies! Will post again once I've checked the map.

Just to let you know, that if you ever meet up closer to me (Stafford) I would come along too

MadameButterfly · 08/11/2004 10:27

Not long now.

I am really looking forward to meeting you all.

Petesmum · 08/11/2004 12:41

Hi All - I looking forward to meeting you all too!
So far I think the following MNers have said yes:
Madamebutterfly
Mumtolaura
Chriz
Ronniebaby (?)

Anyone else ? - apols to anyone I've missed off! Can you also give me an idea if highchair requirements so I can make a table booking.

As the invite was added to 4 threads, I'm getting a little confused so, I'm going to start a new one. Cunning title "Burton meeting 20th Nov" (does anyone know how to do that clever link thing which takes you to a different thread ?)

where abouts in burton is it travelling from b,ham near solihull end

Petesmum · 08/11/2004 21:47

Gulp, directions....

From the south - A38.
Exit A38 at first Burton exit - sign posted Branston.
At the roundabout at the top of slip road, turn right.
At next round about, turn left.
Follow road past caravan garage on right hand side.
Straight over third roundabout.
Continue along the road (watch out for speed cameras!) to yet another roundabout.
At which turn left.
Move into the middle lane before the last roundabout (#5!) and take the second exit into Burton.
Follow this road - easily recognisable by the numerous sets of traffic lights. Pass Sainsburys on your left.
Frankie & Bennies is on your right after Sinsburys - if you get to the T junction at the end of the road you've gone too far

It's easier to find than it sounds, honest.
