Ok I think we can discount Bbar as I have just received their Xmas menu and whilst it looks fabulous and includes fillet steak and wild sea bass it is priced at £40 a head and doesn't include wine. I think that is a bit too expensive to say the least and I am suprised as the menus on their site were much cheaper.

Anyway it neatly gets me out of the organising..............................

eleusis · 31/07/2007 17:36

I think we are settled on 1st December, Mars.

Mears and Mars. This is sure to confuse the poor pregnant woman.

StarryStarryNight · 31/07/2007 17:40

Carmenere, what if we take the Christmas meet in November, and DONT do the Christmas menu??

Then we might have a choice between Hilton and Christmas food or BBar earlier than that and regulare food?

eleusis · 31/07/2007 17:41

Dowe HAVE to do a sit down dinner with everyone involved? What about a buffet oprion? Or just some nibbles and those who want a whole meal can eat one before they show up?

Just pondering the options...

Carmenere · 31/07/2007 17:42

Oh now well that is a thought, I'm off out now but I might drop them an email later on suggesting it.

eleusis · 31/07/2007 17:43

Oh, Starry, I think it's too late to go back to the November date. I personally thought it was the better option, but I think other will be upset.

Not that it isn't a good idea beacause it IS a good idea. But, for the sake of peace, I think 1st December is the day.

Carmenere · 31/07/2007 17:45

They do have a buffet menu on their website for £20 a head. I'm not mad about buffets though(of course I'll do whatever the crowd wants though)

eleusis · 31/07/2007 17:50

I kind of like buffets because they promte mingling. Sometimes with sit down dinners you only see the people at your table and no one else. But, really just a thought to keep price down.

StarryStarryNight · 31/07/2007 17:52

Buffets - equals mingling, good point, also it is less formal, and you dont get "stuck" with the same people the whole time. Generally not so keen on buffets as it is normally in my experience low quality food unless in a five star hotel abroad somewhere (my only non-five star hotel buffet experiences are limited to erm, pizza hut and some notsofab eateries in Soho)

It'd be great to have a travelling companion or two on the way to the meet.

I'm in Deal, near Dover if any of you fancy
travelling together.

eleusis · 31/07/2007 18:12

I'm sure some people will crawl out of the woodwork nearer the time.
