Sally if we all used reasons like that (ie because one person can't attend) we will never find a date, as there is always going to be someone busy on each date suggested.

There should be a revote. One that lasts for a couple of days (at least). Rather than having a two or three declare a revote and ignoring everything everyone else had already saod on another thread.

And the venue never did go up for a vote.

Your is a good reason and I hope you have a fab day. What I meant is there will be some people who are disappointed and don't get to come because of conflicting arrangements, but we can't disregard a particular date because one poster announces that a certain mner can't attend on that date.

Yes, cov is right. It should be determined by numbers. Whatever date has the most who can attend should win.

There has been no vote on venue because first some venues need to be nominated and discussed. There were a couple of nominations earlier today but nothing really came of it.

So should we start a thread with 3 dates in and the posters only have to add their names to the three dates. The most wins. Does this sound democratic.

Well, you say that....but when the thread originally started folk had settled on 24th quite happily. Then it was decided that their should be a 're-vote', and without much time, or voting - the 17th was decided.

After a further 're-vote' and custy taking charge, the 1st has been picked and now a further 're-vote' is being requested.

None. Just the Hilton. Which is perfectly adequate at holding a group of MNers and feeding and watering them.

That is right, Hilton only starts 1st December.

All the people who have signed up below have signed up for that. and will think this is what is going to happen.

I fear we will go through this every couple of weeks till Christmas, when NOTHING will actually happen, if we keep debating it to death rather than comitting and sticking.

I think the Hilton is a fair choice and 1st December is a fair date.

If we keep changing it, people will lose interest. Why look for somethign else? It is adequate? Why take the bother, when we can have this? What is the PURPOSE in starting this whole rigmarole of voting for venues and dates again? It is getting a bit ridiculous now.

At this point, it is half a year ahead, only a few people KNOW they have something on for specific dates, it should be perfectly feasible to stick to the December 1st date.

If it's the 1st, it may as well be the Hilton, unless something else spectacular comes along.

It's perfectly adequate, there are rooms for people to stay, you can eat, drink and dance. I'll bring some vibe in my handbag (oo-er).

If it's going to be earlier, somebody has to take responsibility for finding an equally appropriate venue.
