as I will probably be going for citizenship soon I feel duty bound to support them, I may of course be disowned by dh's family who are of the Irish/ Scottish persuasion

stepfordwife · 13/10/2007 14:24

hi everyone
how you all diddling?
many thanks, foxie, for doing my apologies by proxy!
been out at footie/library and wanted to let cov know asap as had visions of her preparing mountains of veggie food (not just for me, obviously, although i am quite greedy)

dh rang this morning to say flight delayed by 2-3 hours, so means he won't get to heathrow earlist 8ish then passport control, etc, so home 9ish.
sod's law as hasn't had a delayed flight for ages..how very dare he?

as looking forward to it and could do with a night out
but next time...
have a margarhita for me
enjoy!

stepfordwife · 13/10/2007 14:24

Kewcumber · 13/10/2007 15:08

OK Ros - don;t know the post office but know somerfield so should be fine. I have your mobile number

Kewcumber · 13/10/2007 15:09

sfx - citizenship is british so feel free to support scotland (when possible). even I am cheering the English but I do suspect france will win (home country advantge and all)

rosmonster · 13/10/2007 17:03

But Kew, this world cup has pretty much seen the underdog in every game come out on top therefore... (ok, I admit, I'm pulling at straws here!)

xoxo · 13/10/2007 18:16

HI all
am now panicking about what to being.
better be wine, you know what that ele is like (and a big fat raspberry tttttttttttttt)

as have been crap at reading thread will bring booze unless and until someone tells me something to bring..

eleusis · 13/10/2007 19:09

Okay, a recapof what's in my boot:

tequilla
small bottle of rum
a million limes
mint extract (for mojitos if we decide to have them)
club soda (or whatever the locals call it)
straws
blender / juicer

ScaryScienceT · 13/10/2007 19:14

Stumbled on this thread, but very confused about what is happening (easily done in my case).

I would love a meet-up. Can anyone summarise the latest state of affairs? If I were to join you, I'd be travelling from Staines.

lemonaid · 14/10/2007 09:22

ScaryScienceT -- by the time you posted we were all en route. But the main West London thread is here and there will be another meet-up being planned soon.

lemonaid · 14/10/2007 09:27

In relation to the conversation that was going on last night, Denis Thatcher did indeed inherit the family business.

Paddlechick666 · 14/10/2007 09:49

good lord! lemonaid, from your post can I assume there was actual conversation rather than just eating, quaffing and raucous talk of rude things?

more to the point, did QC show up and did SJ & Ros make it?

I won't ask if you had a good time as I'm sure it was fabulous and you all ate like Queens.

My readymeal was delish and I rather enjoyed the rugby. Can't believe the papers are saying "inspired win" this morning tho.

England scraped thru and once again go thru on the toe of Johnny's boot.

Robinson showed some flashes of his brilliance and England's defence was solid.

Hardly what you'd expect from the World Champions but tbf, a good comeback from the hammering they took a month back.

I did want the French to win tho, was teaching dd to say Allez Les Blues all day yesterday! Grandpa was teaching her to sing Swing Low too LOL!

sfxmum · 14/10/2007 09:55

yet more rugby talk ffsleave for the final will you

cov-many thanks for hosting had a lovely time exceedingly well fed and great to see all especially nice to meet SJ.oh and and sushi with the sushi, I need a fast today

thanks foxie for getting me home safely, hope ds2 slept well after all that excitment

lemonaid · 14/10/2007 09:57

It was great although I think COV may have set the catering bar so high that no one else will dare to host a meet-up for some time...

Also further to last night's conversation...

Watching Bagpuss DVD this morning:

Narrator: Once upon a time, not so long ago, there was a little girl and her name was Emily...

DS: She's not got a willy.

Me: That's right.

DS: Cos she's a girl.

Me: Yes

DS: Only boys got willies.

(Sigh) At least the constant refrain is easier to handle watching television than carried out at top volume when passing innocent members of the public in the street.

sfxmum · 14/10/2007 10:14

oh the willy talk!

ScaryScienceT · 14/10/2007 10:16

Thanks, Lemonaid. I'll check it out

ComeOVeneer · 14/10/2007 10:18

Morning all. Glad everyone had a good time. Foxy you left ds2's blue top here do you want me to post it to you?

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 14/10/2007 10:20

Paddle, Kew made it eventually (had a nightmare journey back from work involving tube taxi etc) and the other 2 hopped a cab and got here as well.

SushiMummy · 14/10/2007 11:27

cov - many thanks for last night. had a fab time. great food and great hostess! lovely to see you all!

thanks foxie for the lift. hope you and monty slept well.

QC - sorry, completely forgot to give you the money back. when is the next meet up? maybe I can post it or put it through the mail box in due course?

ScaryScaryNight · 14/10/2007 11:29

COV - sorry to have missed it. I left a longwinded explanation of what ACTUALLY happened on the other thread... AM /PM information mismanagement

foxensteinscreature · 14/10/2007 12:11

CoV - thanks for last night and all that delicious food!!!

Are you around half term - or are you planning to come over to Kew at any point in the next 2 weeks? If so you could just hand me the top for DS?? If not, it would be great to have it hand delivered by our postie, but I don't want to put you to any trouble. Was there loads of clearing up to do afterwards?

sfx - glad you got back in OK - DS slept well and I didn't have to get up until 9.30am - although I did sit up on EBay until 1.30am with a glass of Cab Sav

DH very kindly took DCs to Mass today so I can be Waynetta Slob

Playing Christy Moore on my CD player and DS2 is fascinted by it!! (Good Irish boy that he is)

ComeOVeneer · 14/10/2007 12:18

Just finished the clearing up. It wasn't too bad. I may head to Kew over the half term week, but my sister is coming up so not sure what our plans are. I have your address (I think) so prob easier to post.

xoxo · 14/10/2007 15:12

hey, we didn't get round to debating if Denis Thatcher (who did inherit the family money - ha!) has a willie a la 4 yr old converation.

but then we did discuss Mark, who is one so I guess that counts.

(Sorry Ele, I know Mrs T is your hero).
