Help my ds will not settle on a night!

My ds 20mths is happy to settle for naps during the day in his cot but we have such a battle at night time with tantrums and tears! Its been suggested that he could he telling us he is ready for a bed??? Please help-what do you think?

I think you should post this in behaviour or sleep!

If he is happy with the cot in the day, I don't see why he would be bothered at night.

What's different at night?

Maybe he realises that it is going to be a lengthier separation from you and needs more reassurance?

Or maybe he's just not sleepy at the time you put him down at night so resists?

DD was in a bed from 19 months but she was settling down without problems beforehand so the transistion was smooth. However, if we miss her sleepy phase then she gets over excited and won't go down so we have to wait for the next one...
