Yummy Mummys in Newark?!

Where are all the yummy mummys in Newark?! I'm a new mummy who is still interested in clothes and trying (despite still having a bit of a mummy tummy!) to look nice! It would be great to meet other like minded mummys to go shopping with with our little babies!

hiya, i am in newark. although i dont know if i am a yummy mummy! i love shopping and buying clothes, but never seem to wear them and always end up in a top and jeans/combats. i habe a dd who is 18 months old and so not a little baby anymore!

Hi Liz (& Lulu!),

I know what you mean about buying clothes and not wearing them! Before my little one came along I rarely wore trousers, but for some reason it seems easier to wear jeans/combats when you're a mummy!?

I really miss shopping! I lived in Nottingham for 5 years before coming here so had a fantastic choice of shops and often used to go to London too!

Since being here, I only ever go to Lincoln or Meadowhall and I'm bored with them now!

I try to be a yummy mummy but it's not working at the moment! I've just booked a hair appointment for June though (I'm still loyal to my Nottingham hairdresser) so hopefully I'll feel better after that!

Cheers,
Niki

Hi Niki, Liz & Lulu

I'm newish to mumsnet & quite new to Newark too. Moved here April 06 from Nottingham to be near to PIL. DD now 19 months.

I know what you mean about the shopping. Lincoln & Newark very poor compared to Nottingham . I work in Nottg city centre but don't have time to go shopping in my lunch break and never feel like trailing over there on my days off. I too have way to many "nice" clothes I never really wear and hate buying casual, child friendly stuff.

Haven't really met any mothers in Newark. We seem to be surrounded by retired people and 'cos I work 4 days a week (sometimes from home)I don't really get chance to go to toddlers groups etc. Did go to the one in Balderton village hall on a Tuesday morning when I had a week off ( I normally have Mondays off) but not really my scene. DD goes to Balderton village day nursey 2 days per week and loves it but no real opportunity to meet other parents.

Would be happy to meet up, but if with kids would have to be a Monday.

Hi thejugglingwoman and lizandlulu,

Haven't been on this site for ages so have only just seen your messages - I don't seem to be able to reply personally so I think this message will just appear on the thread!

I know exactly what you mean about 'groups' not being your scene - I tried a couple when I first moved here with the hope of meeting people but just found them extrememly cliquey.

How do you find the drive to Notts for work or do you get the train? I still have my job in Nottingham but am having an extended career break for now.

Like you, I've not met many other mummies and we live near a lot of retired people too!

Hope to speak again soon - if you want to email my address is [email protected]

Cheers,

Nicole
