Possibly, ms - it's an easy enough trip from here and we are not going away this summer so I know we will be here at least some of that week. (Not the Thursday though - GCSE results day!)

roisin · 14/07/2004 16:41

I would love to, as long as it's fine. I can do Tues or Thurs that week (17 or 19 Aug) I think ... just need to check with my boss on Monday in case that's the week he's away.

Brockhole sounds good - I've never been but ds2 went on his school trip and tells me there's a great adventure playground! It might be really busy though.

I will have both dss in tow (5 and 7), prob no dh.

mummysurfer · 14/07/2004 19:08

the tuesday would be fine for me

i'd love to join too please....dd aged nearly 4 and a ds nearly 6 months.....not sure about dh!!

marthamoo · 14/07/2004 20:08

We'll be on holiday there that week! Can't see dh being wild about me sodding off to meet up with MNers though - he actually gets me to himself for a week, no internet access

Janh · 14/07/2004 20:27

I have been to Brockhole, accompanying a school trip, although IIRC dd1 was then in Y1 or Y2 so it was about 15 years ago! I remember the adventure playground too, mostly because my little group thrust their coats at me and shot off into the distance, I thought I'd never get them back, and I'd been counting their heads all day.

I think Tuesday will be fine for me too - will probably bring DS2 only (he's 11). We'll bring a football!

Janh · 14/07/2004 20:28

Oh moo! You must! Tell him you're shopping! No need to mention lovely us.

Janh · 14/07/2004 21:40

moo darling, have just seen your own thread about the Lakes and you're going in July, not August ()

Will vicariously recommend roisin's S Lakes Wildlife Park for you though, our Russians visited it this year and it looked v good on the video (they got to stroke an enormous snake!!!)

OP posts:
roisin · 20/07/2004 18:45

Yamamoto is in Cumbria somewhere. Anyone want to send a CAT?

chatee · 20/07/2004 18:56

in a village just outside of carlisle.....

Janh · 20/07/2004 19:01

This is yamamoto's campsite (I want to go there! Shall we meet there instead? It sounds wonderful!)

There is a contact link, I don't have time just now but if anyone else does????

roisin · 20/07/2004 19:04

Who has the best Lakes knowledge? We don't often venture over to the west coast of Windermere - especially not in school holidays; I'm a bit concerned that it will be heaving there in August.

What does everyone think? Is Brockhole a favoured venue? Any other suggestions?

roisin · 20/07/2004 19:06

I'll contact yamamoto and link to this thread.

mummysurfer · 20/07/2004 19:19

i suggested brockhole as we are staying that way and dd suffers from travel sickness. but we don't mind travelling to somewhere on a straight route. is yamamoto's site fairly central or remote? sorry i ought ot look at the site properley.

roisin, it is busy in August but not ridiculously so, espec not mid week. getting out of Ambleside on a Sat/Sun at 4pm is a big hassle but otherwise not so bad.

does anyone know of anywhere suitable if it rains??

OP posts:
roisin · 21/07/2004 13:52

I think Brockhole sounds fine - pretty central anyway, and easy to get to from all directions. (We are in Barrow and Chatee is nr Carlisle, so it's probably about half way!)

Mummysurfer - as you're going to be on hols (so presumably not online) do you want to send me a CAT, and I'll let you have my home and mobile tel nos, in case we need to get in touch last minute to change arrangements?

mummysurfer · 21/07/2004 14:44

will do now roisin - we will be off line from sat 14th
