I put this in chat but thought I'd try my luck on here also...

Hello, I am hoping that someone on here can give me some information on Haslemere. We are probably moving there, or close, in August/September this year and I would be really grateful for any info. I have a 3yr old so I'd especially like any info on good and bad state schools.
As for housing are there any particular places/roads to avoid in the area? General info on the neighbourhood and what to expect?
I have been there a few times and really liked the look of it but circumstances are forcing our hand and I feel like I may be moving without all the info I'd like.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I live about 7 miles away so don't know Haslemere in greta depth but one of my best friends lives there and is very happy I think.
I know Shottermill is well thought of and St Bartholomews is quite often in the local paper for doing exciting things. Camelsdale is lovely, as is Hammer if you don't want to live right in the middle.
HTH? Feel free to ask any more questions and I'll try to help, or someone more qualified may come along.... I also have a 3 year old, so will happily meet for a play when you arrive!

i live about 6 miles from haslemere, i usually only go to do shopping at tesco there or take the kids swimming at the leisure centre, but it seems like a nice place to me

hotandbothered · 20/03/2007 22:51

We are about to move to bowlhead green (living with in-laws while we attempt to buy in Haslemere). Although I was brought up in Godalming the thought of leaving London and returning to the area is still pretty scary! Much moral support needed!

Have 4 and 5 yr old, and am also desperately worried about primary schools. It is proving very hard to get them into the same school since Reception places at all but St Barts (awful results) are full. We might be high on the waiting list for Shottermill, but first hand knowledge is what I need. Does anyone know what these schools are actually like? Any info gratefully received. Grayswood is full, Camelsdale too. Witley and Busbridge (godalming) also huge waiting lists so there is no chance given our address.

Bramshott · 28/06/2007 10:51

I have heard good things about St Barts, and at least it goes all the way to 11. To be honest, I didn't even know they had bad results. I think most primaries in Haslemere are pretty good, although the secondary doesn't have a great reputation.

lou33 · 28/06/2007 10:55

milford infants is excellent, i cant rate it highly enough

witley used to be good but not now there is a newish head, she is v unpopular

Jaws72 · 28/06/2007 11:02

Thanks re Milford - didn't have that on my hit list. I know what you are saying Bramshott re St Barts and results. I will be able to better judge when I visit next week. thanks. anyone know Shottermill?

lou33 · 28/06/2007 11:23

no experience of shottermill sorry
