Hi

I am now a SAHM to my 21month old DD and find all my friends are still at work or live too far away to meet with the dc's during the day ( due to dashing back to pick up older dc's from school etc). I also don't drive. So although I love my new status I do get a bit bored sometimes...

Anyone in a similar position fancy meeting for a coffee, recommending a playgroup or just having a chat?

hi there

I live in Purley. Where do you live? It must be difficult to get out if you don't drive. I live in the car as none of my friends are within walking distance and the buses are terrible where we live.

I have a daughter who is nearly 3.

Hello. I live in south croydon. Work full-time but don't work thursday or friday (consequently those days are usually very busy). Ds is 3 in June. On fridays I take him to a playgroup in Surrey St by the market in central croydon. It's held in a building which looks nothing like a church but is (!) and it's called Folly's End. Group runs from 10.15 til 12.00 and it's friendly (it was recommended to me by a mum on mumsnet). Also there is an art thing called Messy Monsters which I keep meaning to take ds to (in Sanderstead). Have you taken your dd to the collonades soft play? It's pretty basic but she might enjoy it.

Plummymummy

I used to go to that playgroup in Folly's End on a Friday with my ante natal group and it was nice, but I work on Fridays now so can't go anymore. A friend of mine tried Messy Monsters, but said it was a lot of money for what it was.

As for the Colonnades - do you mean the Fun House? We tried to have an NCT meet up there twice on a Monday afternoon and both times it was shut! Although it's supposed to be open 12 - 6pm, it closes for an hour for lunch but never at the same time. We got there once at 2pm and once at 3.15pm and both times it was closed.

Hello firewalker, it's called the wacky warehouse and it's above a pub

Firewalker · 27/02/2007 11:54

Yes that's the one - it is now called the Fun House and is above the Gypsy Moth pub. A friend of mine said they are going to close it down soon because not enough people use it which surprises me as I thought that, having lost Playtown and Gymboree in Croydon, somewhere like that would be really busy.

hi i live in redhill (used to live in coulsdon0 and have a 2.4yo dd and a 16 week old ds. i would be interested in meeting up with people around the area, i too dont drive, but we manage to get out and about alright so could make it to the gypsy moth.

No, my parents still live there, but we only moved there when I was 8 or 9 and then I moved to london to University.
It is a nice part of the world and handy for lots of things, countryside, london, airports, south coast , etc

Hi there

Sorry not to have been on here for ages, have been away and currently sorting out DD's birthday party for Saturday - 24 children and parents (eeeeeeek!) nervous breakdown on the way on Sunday I think.

Stacey - you post on the other thread for West Sussex/Surrey don't you? I couldn't make the meet up last month, but I usually go to them.

Mumof3 - yes I do go to Caterham sometimes as I have a friend who lives quite near the town centre. Whereabouts do you live?

Darrell - I take you were/are an Enid Blyton fan by your nickname???
