Who is up for the meet up on Wednesday January 24th at 11am in the downstairs café at the Victoria and Albert Museum?

I should be able to come but as my 17 month old gets very tetchy around lunchtime I am hoping that I can get my sister in law to look after him. The V & A is great as they have lifts and lots of ramps making buggy pushing easy. However South Kensington tube station does not have a lift so try to come with babies in slings if at all possible! The food there is really good!
Hope lots of you can make it.

catgirl · 18/01/2007 09:54

found you!

I'll be there, look forward to it. I shall exercise on Tuesday and Thursday to make up for lunch and hopefully cake!

marthahm · 18/01/2007 12:32

i'm coming x

Mellin · 18/01/2007 18:41

Hi,
I will be coming also with the lo. Looking forward to meeting some fellow mumsnetters!

I guess when I arrive I just look for the table full of babies

pmoore · 19/01/2007 07:06

I'll be coming- hopefully if I can plan my route. Bit worried there is no lift at tube station may have to plan a route to walk it from one of the mainlines- any ideas- can look at map!! I'll be like a scared rabbit in London.

Mellin · 19/01/2007 17:02

pmoore - which direction will you be coming from? I know Earls Court station has lifts, but still a decent walk to V&A (20 mins maybe). I will be walking from this direction, so would be happy to meet you at EC and walk if you want. Otherwise the tube website has a journey planner and I think you can put in if you want lifts, no stairs etc. It's on here somewhere:-
journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en

pmoore · 19/01/2007 17:38

Well I am coming from Gravesend. So my mainline stations are Charing Cross, London Bridge, Waterloo or Victoria. If Earls Court has a lift I could maybe get there. I am really not good in London 29 years old and worried!!!

Mellin · 19/01/2007 20:20

Don't worry you will be fine! Victoria is the closest station to South Kensington I think and Earls Court is actually further out in the west (past South Kens). So it would probably be easier for you to get out at South Kens and I'm sure someone will help you with the buggy on the stairs.

Tigerlion · 20/01/2007 12:02

Or PMoore you can take the C1 bus from either Victoria or Earls Court and it takes you straight outside the door of the V and A. It is easy to get the buggy on the bus

Will be there with my sling (and my baby, of course)

Tigerlion · 22/01/2007 12:31

Sister in law will not be here to help look after 17 month old DS so not sure whether I will be able to make it as it is a long walk there with the double buggy which is impossible to take on the bus or the tube. All DS wants to do is move around and be out of his buggy so may be quite difficult to sit down with DD in arms and RELAX! Will definitely try as I would love to meet you all but life is proving next to impossible ? in the nicest possible way ? with two babies in the house.

If I don't make it have a great time.

Oh Tigerlion what a shame, as it was your brillant idea to meet at the V&A. Hope to see you at the next meet-up

Swizzler · 22/01/2007 16:55

Tigerlion: if you do decide to come, I'm sure we can help with toddler watch duty (and look forward to the time when our LOs are mobile!)

Mellin · 23/01/2007 11:20

Tigerlion - do you live in west london? I live in Fulham so if you are anywhere close and fancy coffee & cake another time let me know

catgirl · 23/01/2007 12:33

Tigerlion - agree with Swizzler - we could all do some 'toddler watching' - be good practice for those on their first babies and a nice (!) reminder for those with more than one.

Hope you can make it and look forward to seeing the rest of you tomorrow.

Gingeme · 23/01/2007 15:26

Hello me again. Erm stupid question but I take it well be meeting in the cafe? Go on Tigerlion bring your toddler too. Sure theyll be enough of us to watch him .

catgirl · 23/01/2007 21:19

hope so Gingeme - that is where I will be

Gingeme · 23/01/2007 22:05

Oh right he he see you there then xx

catgirl · 24/01/2007 08:06

just checked tfl website and there seems to be a lot of disruption to tubes, but guess that may change in a couple of hours ... will check again in an hour or so, but my back garden looks lovely in the snow!

Gingeme · 24/01/2007 09:00

Oh no snow!!! YuK. See you in a couple of hours???

Mellin · 24/01/2007 09:22

I will be there, downstairs cafe with my cake

FYI I have blonde hair, maclaren pushchair and stroppy baby (woke up at 5 this morning and didn't want to go back to sleep!)

catgirl · 24/01/2007 09:28

am going to venture out soon, but if the severe delays on the tube are really severe I shall turn round and come home! Hopefully see you by 11 am !

Tigerlion · 24/01/2007 10:40

Ds still fast asleep. Once he is awake I will venture out and see how cold it is and whether I can do the 40 minute or so walk to the V and A with the double buggy bearing in mind that I have to do it back as well. WHY ARE THERE NOT ENOUGH LIFTS IN TUBE STATIONS?!

If I do come it probably won't be for too long as all DS will no doubt want to do is head for any door as that seems to be his party trick at the moment! yes, Mellin, I live in Fulham. Would be great to meet other babies of DD's age as she knows no one and spends her time with all of DS's friends.

If I don't come to the meet up hope you all have fun and maybe see you later
