Have given up work to be around more for my children (10 and 7) but don't have any friends at home during the day. Anyone in a similar situation?

Where are you,piano lady?

mrspoppins · 28/12/2006 06:20

I'm in Tonbridge. If you were close by we could meet. I have 2 girls of 14 and 8. Used to be a Nurse but became a Nanny over 12 years ago in order to be around for my own two as they were growing up. I am just about to change job for part time...3 days a week as my youngest is a very able child and needs more input at home after school as it is causing her some difficulties at school through boredom.
Luckily my eldest, also very able, was a different personality and so was very driven and focused. My younger seems to have traits of ADD which is being looked into just to make sure I am not telling off a child who can't help their extremes of behaviour.
I think giving up your work to be a more hands on mum is fabulous. If there is the financial possibility of doing this, I think every family ought to have a parent at home more...it makes such a huge difference...if the parent that stays at home is any good, that is!!!!!

xxK

Sorry haven't been online for a while! I'm in Tunbridge Wells so it would be lovely to meet up when the kids go back to school. What days are good for you?
Fiona.

Hi Fiona...From the week commencing 15th Jan, I will have Wednesdays and Fridays off. I'm sure they will be packed with stuff to do but without a doubt I'll have some time free to meet up with you for a coffee and a natter!

What say we meet up in Tunbridge wells at a nice coffee shop on the Friday?

Also, I was looking for a reading club to join and found you were on the thread that I found...how spooky is that! Have you begun reading the book? Mine has been ordered from Amazon so I'll be speed reading at this rate as it isn't here yet!!

Let me know...xKaren

Dear Karen,

Would love to meet up for coffee on Friday 19th January in Tunbridge Wells. Yes, by all means let's see if we can get any other local MN mums along. (How do we do that - a new subject message?) Let's say 10am at Cafe Nero?

Yes - I've wanted to join a book group for ages. Haven't actually got hold of the book yet(!), but I'll get it from Amazon. (Just need to think of a couple of other things I want, so I've spent enough for the free postage!)

Speak to you soon,
Fiona.
