I'm due 17th May

I live to the East of the city on the Yare river. I grew up predominantly in North Norfolk though and my parents and brother are still in Fakenham (I did escape to Yorkshire for three years but came back to Norfolk for work).

I've started reading 'Sprouts' the magazine for parents of under-5s in Norfolk - here in the hope that I can find plenty of child-friendly stuff in the area. It's very interesting.

I think various Norfolk MNers try and organise meet-ups every now and then, but I don't know how successful they are- I find it hard getting a bus to take me the 6 miles I need to go in order to get to work!

DingDongTiptoesMerrilyOnHigh · 07/12/2006 17:00

My daughter was born on may 11th.

I will take a look at the website you have linked to.

I don't drive so am limited with meet ups.

I was born in Norfolk but have moved away to Buckingamshire and Hetfordshire but returned 15 years ago to Norfolk.

ProfYaffle · 09/01/2007 16:48

And what's wrong with Diss?? hmmmm????

Emzickle · 09/01/2007 16:58

everything.

end of.

ProfYaffle · 09/01/2007 17:59

Have we spoken before? You seem familiar. iirc you're local?

Emzickle · 09/01/2007 22:31

are you a local... he he

yes I am... you?

ProfYaffle · 10/01/2007 06:59

No - which is probably why I like it! After being brought up in a very urban environment I like the rural nature of the place. Familiarity breeds contempt, I've noticed that quite often local people don't like it but new comers like me do.

throckenholt · 10/01/2007 08:09

I like Diss too (but agree normally people who live in a place all their lifes don't see it's attractions). Waving from just up the road in south Norfolk.

By the way, I am not inflicting my lot on anyone in a meetup - they would scare new parents (soon to 4 year old twin boys and a 5 year old at school) - which is why I haven't joined the thread before.

ProfYaffle · 10/01/2007 08:29

Lol - they sound terrifying . Have to admit I'm not overly fond of my home town either.

SPARKLEeeeeee · 13/01/2007 15:29

hi, i live in horsford, just north of norwich and i have a boy whos two and a half and a girl who will be one in two weeks. i think diss is a nice place from what i have seen, the auction is great and the shopping is pretty good. mel

Spagblog · 13/01/2007 16:00

One thing to say about Diss...Monsters!
A great place to take the kids on a miserable day

ProfYaffle · 14/01/2007 17:34

Oh, Monster dh's department as far as I'm concerned.

Maceysmum · 01/02/2007 22:07

Blimey, so you are all from Norfolk. Thanks Proyaffle for answering me on a different thread. So I am new to Norwich, have a 2 year old girl, I like tea, coffee and wine and would like to meet up with anyone sane for a drink that just wants their kids to have a good time together whilst we talk rubbish. I would like to hear what you are all about to see if we have anything in common and therefore potentailly give each other a break from just the kids...I go to things like presma, thinking of joining messy monsters, work 2 days a week, anyone interested in a chat...

ForeverBlowingBubbles · 08/02/2007 13:48

I'm from Norfolk too. Single with 8yr old DD. I'm miles away from you lot though, over here in the extreme west of Norfolk. Meet-ups would be very difficult as I don't drive. Does anyone else live out here in the west? I'm thinking between Kings Lynn - Downham Market. Even Wisbech, Ely (even though not in Norfolk, places accessible to me)
