Hello!

I am in Southport, have a 7 year old DS and a 16 month old DD, am a SAHM., but hoping to start working as a doula !!

would like very much to meet up with any other mums in the area....for a coffee or at a soft play place , whatever works best !! probably after Xmas now, as things seem very hectic at the moment !

hope there are some other sandgrounders out there xxxx

May I just say that I have already met lulu and she is well worth emerging from lurkerdom for.

(I really am still up for a coffee soon as soon as my legs/the builders will let me. Btw Biglips lives about 10 mins away from me too)

lulumama · 07/12/2006 20:12

Ooooooooh (yet again), the caterpillar (sp?). I remember that...this is a real trip down memory lane. Sorry to hijack your desperate attempts to find sandgrounder mumsnetters with my memories...

TwinkleInSantasEye · 07/12/2006 22:57

Would you be interested in coffee next time I go to my mum and dad's Lulu? I've only been a mum for four months and I don't know many other mums in any area - does that make me sound really sad?!

MerrilyTooBuzzi · 07/12/2006 23:12

lulumama .....Just caught this thread before I head to bed. I'm in Southport!!!!! newbie since Nov !!! Bit of lurking before that. Kids at FRJ other side of town. Catch up tomorrow sometime. I am not a SAHM, but work from home and will be mad busy till after Xmas now.

Might be brave enough to catch up with you. Moved 250 miles to get here over 6 years ago. Its a lovely place.

For instance, Ainsdale beach was great to walk along last weekend in the strong winds....kids nearly ended up as kites!

MerrilyTooBuzzi · 08/12/2006 09:44

I am not a sandgrounder , dont you have to been born here to be able to say that...i'm not sure. I heard some are precious about its use here. Doesnt matter to me either way. After 10 years you should get a certificate or something.

lulumama · 08/12/2006 13:08

thanks merrilee and twinkle!

yay !!!!

there won;t be many more sangrounders as no maternity unit in southport..so unless you have a homebirth, you are born in lancashire , in ormskirk hospital !!

would be lovely to get together in the new year ! i am really quite nice and friendly!

i had no friends at all when had DS and wish i had known about mumsnet ( if it existed 7 years ago!!0 ..everyone needs some support from fellow mums !!!

I'm near Southport, Lulumama (well, 8 train stops away - 20 mins journey), and as you know our DDs are the same age. I'd love to meet you in one of the soft play spots.

I bet the thread will die now and I will feel sad and rejected

lulumama · 08/12/2006 14:32

ok mrsdarcy--- !!!! someone else just started a southport hread so i think we can have a mass meet up in the new year !!!

OP posts:
TwinkleInSantasEye · 08/12/2006 16:18

OMG I didn't realise there was no maternity unit now! What a nightmare getting to Ormskirk in the throws of labour - I think I'd have died!! I was born in the old Christiana Hartley maternity hospital that closed eons ago.

lulumama · 08/12/2006 16:19

more southport mums here..aiming for a new year meet up...let;s post on that one as less confusing !!!!!!!!!

the 35 minute drive to ormskirk ,in labour with DD , in the rush hour was deeply unpleasant !!!!!!!!!!!!!
