Anyone near Paddington/Bayswater/Notting Hill/Hyde Park?

Does anyone want to get together with me and my 2 year old ds?
We spend a lot of time in Hyde Park and it would be nice to have someone to chat to while he enjoys all the puddles! We live in Paddington. Is anyone else nearby? I am new to this website and am not sure how to get involved!

I mean Thursday

Chuffed · 25/05/2004 18:49

what time?

Joffy · 25/05/2004 19:51

ChicPea - ds didn't sleep at all during his naptime after nursery today and was fine so maybe I will come on Thursday. What is the parking like round there? Is the playground easy to find?

Chuffed - they are meeting at 2pm on Thursday at Downshire Hill playground in Hampstead (please correct me if this is wrong ChicPea). If you don't fancy that we could meet in Hyde Park on Friday if you are free.

Hi Joffy,

The playground is here , at the intersection of Downshire Hill, East Heath Road, and Willow Road (above "Hampstead" on the map). I don't have a car, but I think parking can be challenging at times. I would tell you to park in the car park on East Heath Road, but it's closed for a fair for the bank holiday.

Parking is often easier on Pilgrim's Lane (just above the playground---it runs parallel to Downshire Hill).

Hi Joffy, that's good you can make it. That means Davros, Maomao, you, Chuffed, Onlineid and me!! That's six of us which is great! See what you have started?!
I would try to park in Thurlow Road which is opp Downshire Hill once you cross Hampstead High St. There are also pay and display spaces outside the police station. If you drive around you will find something, even going up the High Street. And then it will be a five minute walk and seeing that you often cycle around Hyde Park, five mins by foot will be a sneeze. The Playground (I haven't opened Maomao's link as I am so impressed/envious of her tech skills and you prob don't need further directions) is at the end of Downshire Hill on the left after the pub. Easy to find. Not sure if there is comfy tarmac like they have at Hyde Park!
Shall we have another plan if it pours with rain? I haven't listened to the forecast.

Chuffed · 25/05/2004 20:41

I'm afraid I won't be able to get to Hampstead on Thursday and am away for the bank holiday. Have a HV appt on Wed but nothing arranged for Thurs or Fri next week, or could do after 3 on Wed.

Joffy · 25/05/2004 21:47

Thanks ChicPea and Maomao. I am terrible at parking - the driving examiner had to talk me through the parallel park during my test - so if I am late I'll probably be driving round and round looking for a spot I can drive straight into!

Chuffed - do you mean tomorrow Wednesday or next week. I can't do next week at all but can do tomorrow. If not, the week after I am free.

Joffy,

There really are often spots on Pilgrim's Lane (I know because I walk on that street almost every day to get to the playground).

Chuffed, I'm sorry you won't be able to make it, it would have been lovely to meet you.

Chuffed · 26/05/2004 09:31

Joffy I did mean next Wed, Thurs or Fri but could do today. I have a Dr appt which would probably let out at about 3.00 so 3.30 at that bear near the fountains at lancaster gate would be fine. (if it isn't raining which it looks like it might).

Joffy · 26/05/2004 13:44

Chuffed - I'm sorry but my ds is not very well today so I don't think we'll make it to meet you. How about arranging something for the week beginning 7th June. I can do any time except Tuesday and Thursday mornings when my ds is in nursery or 1:30-3:30 pm when he is taking his nap!
Let me know when you are free.

Maomao, ChicPea - Ds is ill so I'm not sure if we'll be coming tomorrow or not. Will let you know tomorrow.

Joffy I hope your ds feels better soon. It isn't a very nice for a walk in the park anyway.

ChicPea · 26/05/2004 18:48

Joffy, hope DS feels better. You know where we shall be anyway, even if you leave it until the last minute to leave.

maomao · 26/05/2004 19:36

Joffy,

Hope DS feels better!

maomao · 27/05/2004 12:07

Hi Joffy,

Hope all is well with you and your ds. Not sure whether you're able to come today, but there's been a slight change in plans, and we're going to Davros' house in Belsize Park. I think you've got ChicPea's number, so if you can come, perhaps you could ring her for Davros' address?

ChicPea · 27/05/2004 19:04

Well Davros, Maomao and I with our DD's had a very enjoyable meet up. Thank you Davros for your hospitality and for the parking voucher which meant I was able to park right outside your house. It was good to meet you both and your little ones and it would be good to do it again soon. Will try to do the Friday meet at the one o'clock club next week.

Joffy · 27/05/2004 19:40

Sorry I missed you all. I have had a miserable day being ill with ds instead!

OP posts:
maomao · 27/05/2004 19:46

Yes, it was fun, wasn't it? I'm just embarrassed at how HUGE my dd is.... ah well. ChicPea, your dd is really quite the sophisticated girl; she's absolutely lovely. I shall email you for information about classes in the area, if that's okay with you.

Joffy, I hope you get better soon --- sorry to hear that you're not well.

ChicPea · 27/05/2004 23:55

Thank you Maomao for being so sweet. I thought your DD was like a doll and so advanced. I went out with a girlfriend who is a primary school teacher and I was raving about the signing that you do. When did you start taking lessons?
I shall dig out the info about classes and email them to you and Davros.

maomao · 28/05/2004 07:38

LOL ChicPea at my dd being like a doll! A tank is probably more apt! Definitely sturdy....

I've actually not taken a class for signing, but have really just done it all based on reading books, finding web sites, etc. Davros was saying that I should start a class here, LOL! I think there's a thread on behaviour/development that I started for someone else a few days ago....

Don't you know the dangers of posting so late at night....?

ChicPea · 28/05/2004 22:27

Hi Maomao! Spoke to my husband about your signing and about your DD saying at 11mths that the birds woke her up. He was blown away and wants me to enrol TODAY! He said it would be amazing to hear what our DD has to say instead of babbling. Anyway, I said I would ask you. He would be very interested to find out more so that I can start signing. Talk about pressure!!!!!
