Thanks Quokka (again )

PC - just tickle DD to ensure she smiles at the right times etc!!

HoHo - work? eh? Oh yeah, that!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 08/11/2006 17:49

ps HoHo congrats on the shrinking bum!!!

2quokkasandaparetree · 08/11/2006 19:24

well done on the weight loss oxo! Pc dh keeps on asking why I haven't got the kids into a agency. I'm knacked ond I'm going to plonk myself down with some wine on the sofa .

harktheheraldfoxessing · 08/11/2006 20:08

Phew!

Have just completed and sent DD's online primary school application for Sept 2007.

Ohh aye!

Am paranoid in case I've forgotten to send something!!!

We have to do two forms as its Church school!

MrsBojangles · 08/11/2006 20:26

well done oxo!

Foxy I had to fill in a nursery application already for ds to start in 2008!!!

Saying that might not need that space after all. DH has accepted the job in Marlow and if probation period goes well and he likes the look of the company we'll be moving there! Not sure when though, I'd prefer to move after reception year is over instead of slam bang in the middle... decisions decisions and that now where the West London Group has momentum saying that it's only 30 mins drive (if speeding ) back to West London...

Pinkchampagne · 08/11/2006 20:30

I am definitely going to try & be there, but I am having trouble copying & pasting myself to the definite list. I am not the most technical of people!!
Could someone please do me a big favour & add me to the definite list. Thank you.

Pinkchampagne · 08/11/2006 20:31

Ohps - wrong thread!!!!
Do ignore me!!!

hoxohoxohoxo · 08/11/2006 20:52

Marlow is GORGEOUS I LOVE it there. my fav hotel is there (the compleat angler - complete with helepad!!)
and think of the day visitors you'll get

sfxmum · 08/11/2006 20:58

well done oxo, blinking hard to do,but apparently you manage wine and all, good for you.

nursery application that far ahead? is it a church school? was thinking dd would stat going at around 3.5yrs old

too tired must get some sleep but its against my nature to be in bed before 10, how stupid is that?
(have mercy don't answer)

MrsChristmasboo · 08/11/2006 22:50

Am i allowed to re-join this thread after disappearing? Nearly ready to leave baby and ds1 with their daddy for an evening out....

PLEASE????

MrsBojangles · 09/11/2006 07:14

of course you can come back Christmasboo

sfx it's a non-church affiliated nursery, and attached to the school dd goes to. A very popular school and one of the few non-church ones in the area so totally oversubscribed. The nursery places still get allocated by school not the council so it's usually first come first serve, + all the other stipulations like siblings etc. so application 2 years ahead is almost a must. With dd I 'only' applied 18 month in advance and ended up being no. 50!!! on the waiting list. However, in the end she got in. goes to show how many parents lodge multiple applications.

And now having to do it all over again... yoiks. Then again dd will be 5 soon so a school will have to take her if we move and dh's future employers said they will render assistance where they can - they've got 'affiliations'

hoxohoxohoxo · 09/11/2006 07:33

RE: schools. I understood that church & state schools had to go on one form now. Is that not right? It was supposeed to avoid the whole 'accept state school until I get offered church school' schinanigans.
Am in turmoil over ds' form - which school to put down. The good local (may not get in as lots of families live closer) or the good one that is a bit of a schlep up richmond hill every day but none of his little friends will be going to.
It's really difficult, isn't it

harktheheraldfoxessing · 09/11/2006 08:57

HoHo - do you mean the Vineyard up Richmond Hill?

We all use the same form now, but the Church school people have to fill in a supplementary form as well.

Hi Mrs Christmas - are you Mrs Recycle?

MrsBo - oooh I feel sad about your future move Good for you but bad for us!

festivevillas · 09/11/2006 09:00

Bojangles, Marlow is LOVELY. And it's not so far away, really. Congrats re: your DH's job.

MrsBojangles · 09/11/2006 09:13

I thought MrsChristmasboo is snowboo? Oh all those namechanges are getting VERY confusing

sfxmum · 09/11/2006 09:17

thanks for the info on schools it's baffling!
so far i have just been trying to understand the system and reading Ofsted reports of local schools. i guess i must get serious now

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 09:22

Where the heck is Marlow? (stupid foreigner alert)

In Richmond there is now one application made to the LEA specifically so parents don't hang onto three places while they decide which to accept. In fact the new system is surprising similar to applying to sororities in the US. Ah, that brings back memories.

Speaking of which, must do my reception application for DD. Thanks for reminding me, Fox.

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 09:24

I thinkMrsChristmasBoo is Snowboo. MrsRecycle (aka medela ... and possibly now a new Christmas name??) only has lone DS and he is the baby. So she can't be mrschristmasboo, unless she has just run out and aquired another baby, but somehow I doubt it.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 09/11/2006 09:31

Hi Mrs SnowBoo - glad to have you back!!

We're meeting up tomorrow night at Wagamama in Richmond if you're up for it. Also a Christmas meet on 2 Dec?

We decided on the children's school ONE YEAR before DS was CONCEIVED!!!!We then moved across London and checked the ctachment area before buying our last house

Pushy parent alert???

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 09:36

Oh jeez, I least waituntil I was pregnant before I started e-mail nice private schools. Of course I have since realised theyy are soooo not in the budget. So, I had to change course for a lovely church school in Twickers.

MrsChristmasboo · 09/11/2006 09:42

Haha soz, didn't think i'd cause such confusion! It is i, Snowboo, getting ready for Christmas....

MrsBojangles · 09/11/2006 09:43

Uwilalalala Marlow is close to High Wycombe and if ya don't know that... it's about 30-45mins drive along the A40 towards Oxford

Nice church school? My problem with those is that I refuse to pay lipservice at the Sunday Service just so that dd/ds can get into a particular nursery/school and also they're not baptised which probably makes me a heathan (sp?)in the parish priest's eyes

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 09:55

ah, well my service at church is not merely lips service. I have a genuine interest in seeing that my children are raised in the Christian community (and specifically the Christian COE community). So, of course, the system comes in handy for me. But, I can appreciate that if I didn't happen to be COE (or Catholic as they too have nice church schools) then I might not be so keen on the system.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll find a nice non-church school. Have you looked into it? What are the school choices? What town might you live in?

sfxmum · 09/11/2006 10:10

that is very much my problem i want a non church school at least at primary level. the idea of using sacraments to get to a school strikes me as disrespectful of other peoples religion not to mention dishonest on my part, so i refuse to do it.

and now for the challenge of a good non church primary

Uwilalalalalala · 09/11/2006 10:14

So, SFX, have you looked into your options. I forgot where you live (Kew??). I like to start with the league tables. You can find them if you google "BBC league tables" and then you can look at the Richmond LEA. The Richmond LEA tops the charts every year, so I would think that you have some good options.
