Because I got fed up of looking for the other one.

Steppy - are you all done? Is it all wonderful or are you still looking for the bottle opener?

...the boxes are all packed ..and half the house has been loaded onto a truck....oour house here looks enormous without all the "stuff" that you accumulate.....we arrive tomorrow around lunchtime then the unpacking begins (dreading that !!) DS starts in new school on 30th Oct, DD starts at pre school w/c 7th November....am told that Somerset holidays are different to Wilts so unpacking likely to take twic as long as will need to entertain them too....can't expect them to spend 4 days "playing" whilst mummy and daddy unpack !!!! Really excited though...hope we'll e able to finally meet up.......

That would be great. My kids break up on Friday (20th) and go back on Monday 6th November. The actual half-term was 10 days but our school added in 2 inset days tp make it a round 2 weeks. I'm sure you're in the thick of it right now!

How lovely that the children will be around to 'help' you . If you want a break I'm on leave on wed, thurs and fri of next week.

Hooray....we're in at last, though can't quite believe it !!! Hundreds of unpacked boxes (well that's what it feels like) now understand why everybody was asking if I was stressed...I absolutely wasn't before the move, but now feeling absolutely bloody knackered...BUT kids are absolutely fine, as are our 2 cats (!!!!) we're still trying to figure out how to get one of our double wardrobes into current space but, hey ho, will probably some time figuring that one out !!!!!! Any suggestions for meet up would be most welcomed !!!

Hello I live in Somerset too, whereabouts are you?

Steppy1 · 29/10/2006 17:25

...in Sticklinch, which is between West Pennard and Pilton....

joelallie · 30/10/2006 12:30

Hi Steppy,

sorry wasn't around much last week. Glad it went well.

....still unpacking the boxes...we seem to have got through the "required now" stuff really quickly...it's all of the "not quite sure where these need to go" ones that are still hoarding everything !!! We'll probably still have 'stuff various" in boxes by the time we move next time (not for at least another 10 years, I can assure you ) DD starts at pre schooll tomorrow, and DS settled really well into new school...hasn't seem to have taken a backward glance really since he's started to make new friends. Children really amaze me with their ability to take on new experiences with such ease.....I'm even going to try to "Step n Tone class" at Wells leisure centre tonight (must be mad !!!) Anyway, hope to meet up with some of you Somerset mums soon !

joelallie · 03/11/2006 07:45

Glad it went OK and that your kids are settling in nicely. It is amazing how children take everything in their stride....I guess they get so used to most things being new that something a bit more new doesn't bother them at all!

I'd like to organise something for the bods on this thread - but what kind of thing. Do we want kids along? Daytime or evening? I work so weekdays are out for me but I can usually so Saturdays. Any ideas anyone?

easy going here...happy to do meet up with kids or "ladies only" too (maybe in Wells ...or did anybody happen with the Bath meet up ?

joelallie · 07/11/2006 08:14

Might start another thread then? I am quite uninspired about children-friendly venues in this weather - we spend most of our time outside in the summer. Mine are too old for soft play are type places apart from the really big ones and there aren't any round here.

Are you going to the Carnival Steppy? I think it's in Glasto on Friday or Saturday...can't remember which.

hope that we are, though we're back in Wiltshire during the day on saturday for one of good friends childrens birthday party !!! Hoping to juggle it and get back for the carnival in the evening....
