Hi Joann
I am near Sudbury, about 17 miles ish from Ipswich. For some reason all the Suffolk threads seem to die a death! I have 3 kids...11, 9 and 2. Oh and I'm 37. What about you?

joann · 07/09/2006 14:02

Hi MarmaladeSun

Thanks for getting back, sorry was feeding my little monster and trying to get him to have a nap
Im 35 by the way. I've been checking out a few Parent & toddler clubs and not getting very far, any ideas ?

I live in Ipswich with my son, he is 18mths. If you want a chat let me know!

MarmaladeSun · 08/09/2006 09:00

Hi Joann
No joy with the toddler groups I'm afraid. I've been looking into them too as I need to get DD a social life (and me too come to that), but nothing really stood out, especially living out here. If you fancy a chat though, let me know as I'm getting braindead from cbeebies!
Hi to you sweetie77 too.

sweetie77 · 08/09/2006 09:43

Hi MarmaladeSun.

I go to library groups, Storytime and Tot rock. They are short groups and tend to be small, find it difficult to be brave in large groups! It is good to get out of the house and you can check out the books while you are there.

joann · 08/09/2006 19:36

Hi both, Thanks for the advice about Tot Rock sweetie77 might give that one a go, I know the feeling about big groups i feel the same. I'm not confident enough to just walk in and not know anyone. Where is Tot rock ? Is Ipswich to far out for you (MarmaladeSun) ?
What is Ipswich Library like never been ?

MarmaladeSun · 08/09/2006 19:47

Hi Joann

No, Ipswich isn't too far at all. It takes about 30 minutes to drive there from mine but I like driving. My kids used to go to school off Norwich Road up until a few months ago and I had to take them and pick them up every day so I'm used to it.
I've never heard of Tot rock though, what is it? Never been to Ipswich library either...where I used to live waterstones used to do brilliant story sessions for toddlers. Do they do that here?

sweetie77 · 08/09/2006 20:51

Hi all,

I go to Rosehill library and Gainsbourough, but all suffolk libraries do these sessions i think. At Tot Rock we sing nursery rhymes and play percussion instruments, only about 20mins. Storytime a story is read and the children have opportunity for craft time.

joann · 11/09/2006 20:13

Hi all, Hope you had good weekend, my DS did his first steps so proud parents !!! Looks very much like a drunken stagger at the moment.
Where abouts in Ipswich are you Sweetie77. I'm up near Foxhall Stadium.

Hi Joann

I live near Murryfield Primary school, do you know it? I don't think it is far from you. Congrats on your little ones first steps, you will be running after him next!

joann · 12/09/2006 14:11

Is it the one on Nacton Rd ? If so its not far.
I've just tried to go to The Roundabout Club at St Augustines Church (Toddler Group) but no-one there, this is second attempt, Have you heard of it ? it's one my HV told me about guess it must have shut down. I'm not sure where Tot Rock is can you give me the info and i might give it a look.
Any joy for you yet MarmaladeSun ?

sweetie77 · 12/09/2006 16:56

Yes it is the one on Nacton Road.

I had considered trying the roundabout club, maybe I won't bother then! Tot Rock is at Rosehill Library on thurs,in afternoon. It is also at other libraries, try this link for more info www.suffolk.gov.uk/LeisureAndCulture/Libraries/ChildrensLibrary/BookstartActivities.htm
it is the suffolk library website. Maybe I will see you there!

joann · 12/09/2006 18:14

Just looked for Rosehill Library It's going to be my closest library so definately see you there is Tot rock really only for 10 mins ??? Thought about swimming with your DS ? I want to go but haven't plucked up the courage yet....
by the way have'nt asked how old you are or if your married etc Bit of a nosey cow hey

MarmaladeSun · 13/09/2006 09:13

Hi Joann
No...no luck for me yet, but I've been really busy so haven't really been looking into it. How are you getting on?

joann · 13/09/2006 11:52

Just found the one at St Augustines (times have changed !) but its HUGE !! the car park was pretty much full and loads of mums and pushchairs walking up the road. Not sure if i can go to that one on my own !!! Im going to give that Tot rock Sweetie77 was talking about a go next week i think.
Do you come in town much MarmaladeSun ? Must be a bit easier for you now that the kids are back at school?

OP posts:
MarmaladeSun · 14/09/2006 21:33

Hi Joann
Yes, I do come into Ipswich a lot; in fact I have just moved my office there so am in and out several times a week although it's mostly in the evenings and/or weekends. I don't mind driving in though; it's only about 30 minutes from where I live and it's nice to see civilisation now and again!

joann · 15/09/2006 20:23

Is Ipswich civilisation ????
If your ever in town during week and you fancy a coffee we could meet up, not sure if there's somewhere the little ones can play whilst we have a drink ????

MarmaladeSun · 25/09/2006 15:57

Hi Joann and sweetie

I can't believe there aren't more of us! How are you doing?

joann · 28/09/2006 10:37

Hi MaramaladeSun,
I know what you mean bit thin on the ground !!!
Any joy yet for you ??? i'm not having alot of luck been to a couple of things at the libraries but still no luck with actual groups. Im really beginning to go stir crazy - i don't think i can take much more of Cbeebies. My poor DS keeps getting put in the car/pushchair and getting driven around just for me to get out the house

Hi MarmaladeSun & Joann

How r u both? If u would like to meet up for a chat to get out let me know.

MarmaladeSun · 30/09/2006 22:19

Hi Joann and sweetie
Sorry I haven't been on much lately to answer; I am having dreadful problems with bullying at my children's school (see my thread on education) and it's kind of taken over everything.
I haven't had any luck finding a decent toddler group yet, although I haven't really been looking that hard.

Let me know how you get on and if you have any luck x

joann · 03/10/2006 18:55

Hi MarmaladeSun
Just been reading your thread, what a horrible time you and your family are having
What's the latest ? If you want to talk CAT me

Hello everyone! Just thought I'd investigate some kind of activity for my 13 month old DD and here you all are.
Had a brief go at toddler groups with my now 7 year old triplet DD's. Didn't get on so well, what with the silly number of DD's I had to watch at once not much time to chat.
Totally difference experience this time and thought I'd give it a try.
Hadn't thought of the library and Rosehill is very close. Used it for my other DD's on a Sunday when they did free craft sessions some time ago, don't know if that still goes on?? Will give it a try this Thursday. I'll be the tired looking one with the DD who walks like Captain Jack Sparrow
