Well, I missed the last one in Dulwich Park because of DDs (late) arrival. She's now almost 5 months so I think we are more than overdue for another one!

Any suggestion or ideas would be welcome, I would suggest waiting until after the Easter holidays as everyone seems to be busy over that time. So maybe late April/early May - revisit the park, initial meetup in the cafe, as an opening suggestion?

I'm easy with either week days or weekends, but would prefer lunchtime/early afternoons midweek as I have a 'nursery run'.

Anyone with me?

Hmmmm, that's a lot of Twiglets, isn't it? Ok, just the wine.

Yes, sounds good to me. I've got a bit of a treck to get there and don't know the park so might get a bit lost, will it matter if I'm a bit later than 12.30ish? Is there a contingency plan in case the weather's shite?

lydialemon · 21/04/2004 20:38

Only real contingency plan would be to invade the cafe if it does start raining - but obviously they might get a little miffed if we actually tried to set a picnic up there! I don't know the area outside the park well enough to know of any indoor play areas - any wet weather suggestions? Hornimann Museum is just down the road, and has a fairly large cafe, and nice hands-on displays, but I don't know if it is open on a Sunday.

I think I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and be optimistic!

OP posts:
Blu · 22/04/2004 11:27

We could check the weather forecast 3 days beforehand, and come up with a contingency if necessary. Hornimann is a good idea, they have that big conservatory space next to the cafe as well. But in Dulwich, if it IS raining, the cafe will be empty anyway.

Toots · 22/04/2004 18:56

Just wanted to pop in and say I agree.

Evita · 22/04/2004 20:16

Ok, sounds great. Horniman will be open on a Sunday I'm sure and is pretty child friendly if I remember. I'll try to make it for as close to 12.30 as possible.

This will be my first mumsnet meet-up so very exciting. I was hoping to go to the Tate Modern one this Sunday but dd's a bit poorly.

Toots · 22/04/2004 20:26

Sorry if missing something, Evita, but think Horniman is only wet-weather-contingency, and Dulwich park is what we're aiming for, am I right gals.

Motherinferior. We are virtually actual neighbours, then. We nearly lived in Siddons Road in Forest Hill until found out house was cursed with expensive and various lurgies.

lydialemon · 23/04/2004 16:21

Yes Toots you're right, Hornimanns if its wet, Park if it's dry - need to get out in the sunshine if there is any! Keep an eye on this thread on the Saturday, we'll do all the final confirmation stuff then!

OP posts:
Evita · 24/04/2004 12:35

Ok, will recheck this post the day before the meeting's planned. And yes, I did realise that Horniman Museum was a wet weather contingency.

Toots · 26/04/2004 11:01

Please, please can we have weather like this weekend next Sunday. Hasn't it been bliss?

motherinferior · 26/04/2004 11:04

Utterly fabulous. And now I am supposed to be working and want to sit in the GARDEN with a BOOK, dammit.

Toots · 27/04/2004 18:02

WTF? Who stole the weather? It's like singing in the bleedin' rain out there. I don't want our wet weather option. I want our warm, dry weather option. Am pouting.

Ooh, I got caught in that rain storm with poor little dd who had never seen thunder and lightning before and was terrified! I had to take her out of the pram and we got home soaked to the skin. Yes, let's hope the sun comes out again for next weekend.

lydialemon · 27/04/2004 22:51

It will be good weather on Sunday OR ELSE!!!!!

OP posts:
Blu · 29/04/2004 17:04

Has anyone checked the forecast?
Reminder, cos it's a long way down the thread now, Dulwich park, Sun 2nd May, 12/12.30, between the cafe and the tennis courts, bring something to sit on, and food and drink.

DS and I will bring a black balloon with a Pirate design with us, as a sign!

bossykate · 29/04/2004 17:15

hello everyone

might have to pull out of this one. started potty training ds on monday, so sat and sun will be mine and dh's first days of coping with the logistics of what that entails. plus it hasn't gone brilliantly so far. so i will see how saturday goes and then confirm if we are coming.

sorry for the hesitation.

Blu · 29/04/2004 17:18

LOL BK! I have embarrassed myself by producing the portable potty in Dulwich park...and have now discovered that DP's technique is to hold DS horizontally, face downwards, in the bushes. We could give you a demostration.....
Oh please come, please....

bossykate · 29/04/2004 17:18

that sounds odd - nursery have had the lion's share of dealing with this during the week, so dh and i won't have had full days of pants only until the coming weekend.

bossykate · 29/04/2004 17:19

i'm want to, i'm looking forward to it... don't want to get stressed and stress ds. he has already had a nightmare about it all.

off to check weather now!

Blu · 29/04/2004 17:20

It's downright weird!

Don't be nervous, just do it! bring potty, spare trousers, and keep asking 'do you need to wee?'.

Blu · 29/04/2004 17:21

And DS is still v unreliable....

bossykate · 29/04/2004 17:21

here it is

looks ok but not great.
